  1. By 2020, Champlain College will be the finest small, professionally, and globally focused college in the United States. Your determination and initiative + Our radically pragmatic education = Career success, Audeamus. Let Us Dare. A radically pragmatic education. It is relevant today, and it is years ahead of its time. It fuels initiative. It has a purpose. It uniquely prepares students, ready for work, ready for life, and ready for anything. Without it, you are running in place. With it, you're sprinting into the future. At Champlain College, students come to us with passion and determination. We teach them what they want to know and help them understand what they need to know. We provide unparalleled support and revel in the partnerships we create. We offer tools to think and to act, and the opportunity to put them to use immediately. For those who are instinctively ambitious, we provide the agility to create a springboard for their ideas. Learning how to think without knowing what to do is an education half-done. At Champlain, both teachers and students stretch. Dreams start coming to life far before the degree is earned. We believe our radically pragmatic education is what makes it all possible. It is what helps put the initiative into practice. We could say we prepare students for the real world, but they are already there at Champlain. Let us dare to teach them, learn from them, and be them. Champlain College endeavors to educate today's students to become skilled practitioners, influential professionals, and engaged global citizens. Champlain's agile and entrepreneurial approach to higher education uniquely blends technology leadership, market savvy, innovation, and fiscal responsibility with a commitment to liberal learning, community involvement, and "the human touch." This distinctive approach permeates the delivery of relevant, rigorous student-centered programs in business, arts, applied technology, and public service. Each Champlain College degree is built on a foundation of uncompromising academic excellence. We are committed to providing effective, engaging education and successful career outcomes for students. This spirit of integrity informs every aspect of our educational experience. Small class sizes with an average 15:1 student/teacher ratio-create an intimate learning environment. You will never join faceless crowds in cavernous lecture halls. Instead, you will work closely with professors who offer individualized attention and address your areas of interest. These relationships often result in exciting internship and employment opportunities that come from your teachers' connections. Our majors are not static programs but living platforms of applied learning. Each program is reviewed annually to ensure that it continually reflects the evolving needs of its field and remains focused on today's issues and tomorrow's challenges. Emerging trends in communication technology and industry best practices are integrated continuously into each program's architecture to keep the fundamentals similarly aligned. Our Upside-Down Curriculum presents courses in your major in your first semester so you can devote four full years to developing the skills and instincts an exceptional career demands. You will couple this experience-based learning with extensive fieldwork that further expands your capabilities and keeps you ahead of the curve. Every undergraduate participates in Champlain's Core curriculum, a four-year course of interdisciplinary study designed to prepare you to be an intellectual leader. Core classes are discussion-oriented, problem-based, and experiential to promote your ability to express, defend, and expand your ideas. In each class, the questions asked are much more important than the answers, because, in the 21st century, there are few clear-cut "right" answers to the significant issues. We are committed to working in partnership with all members of our college and external partners to build a welcoming and inclusive community where students, faculty, and staff engage in continuous learning and growth. We strategically organize our diversity and inclusion work within an institutional framework that is comprehensive and includes all organization areas. As a professionally focused institution, Champlain emphasizes the value of getting as much time in the field as possible. We go to great lengths to create the best options for our students to do so. If you have the drive, we will work with you extensively to help you find — or create — an internship that will give you a chance to dig into your profession's work, build up your professional portfolio, and capture impressive credentials for your resume. Founded in 1878, Champlain College® is a small, not-for-profit, private college overlooking Lake Champlain and Burlington, Vermont, with additional campuses in Montreal, Canada, and Dublin, Ireland. Our career-driven approach to higher education prepares students for their professional life from their very first semester. For the third year in a row, Champlain was named a "Most Innovative School" in the North by U.S. News & World Report's "America's Best Colleges" 2018 regional rankings and listed among The Princeton Review's "The Best 382 Colleges" in 2018. Champlain is also featured in the 2018 Fiske Guide to Colleges as one of the "best and most interesting schools" in the United States, Canada, and Great Britain and recognized as a 2018 College of Distinction for its "Engagement, Teaching, Community and Outcomes."
