Cairn University exists to educate students to serve Christ in the church, society, and the world as biblically minded, well-educated, and professionally competent men and women of character. Cairn University is an academic community of Christian students, faculty, and staff. As such, and in keeping with the University's mission and vision, members of the Cairn community exhibit biblical wisdom and Christian maturity regarding their conduct and behavior toward others. They should be sensitive regarding the testimony of their personal lives in representing the Lord Jesus Christ, His Church, and the University. Members of the University community should live according to 1 Corinthians 10:31: "Whatever you do, do all to the glory of God." Today, with over 70 academic programs and specializations listed in the catalog and the approval of bodies such as the Council for Social Work Education, the National Association of Schools of Music, International Assembly for Collegiate Business Education, the Pennsylvania Department of Education, the Association of Christian Schools International, and the Association for Biblical Higher Education, Cairn is one of the most thoroughly accredited schools of its type. Cairn undergraduate students can earn degrees in business, education, ministry, music, social work, and theology. Students in professional programs earn a minimum of 30 credits in Bible and theology and the biblical integration that is a hallmark of Cairn's academics. Graduate students earn master's degrees that facilitate professional and intellectual development. Students also have the option of dual-level programs, earning a master's degree at the same time as a bachelor's degree. While its core commitments to preparing students for Christian service and teaching the Bible as a foundation for all of life and learning have remained central, Cairn has emerged a private Christian university with a reputation for academic excellence and an ability to prepare students for professional service in the church, society, and the world. Through partnerships with BestSemester, GO-ED, Rome With Purpose, Veritas Christian Study Abroad, and Jerusalem University College, Cairn students, have the opportunity to choose from over a dozen programs throughout Europe, Africa, Asia, Australia, North America, Latin America, and the Middle East. In recent semesters, students have studied in Australia, India, Uganda, Costa Rica, Jerusalem, and Oxford, England. A graduate program should do more than grant you a professional credential. Cairn University enjoys a heritage that spans over one hundred years. Founded in 1913, it resulted from the merger of two separate institutions, which formed the Philadelphia Bible Institute in 1951.
