Values Statement At Border Christian College we value Hope Discernment, Excellence, Integrity, Respect, Compassion, Justice, responsibilities, and Humility as we seek to develop the whole person. Our school was founded in 1950 with one teacher and fourteen students, it was first known as the “Albury Seventh-day Adventist School” and it has come a long way since its humble beginnings in East Albury. Developing and expanding significantly over the years, the school has since re-located to more than twelve acres of beautifully situated land in Thurgoona. 1992 saw a name change to Border Christian College, reflecting a broadened service to the wider Albury/Wodonga communities and beyond educating Pre-Kinder age children, Infants, Primary and Secondary School students to Year 12 where they can achieve their HSC. We belong to the Adventist independent School System. This system is a worldwide network of quality Christian schools, colleges, and universities that has been operating for over a century and is now one of the largest Protestant Independent School Systems in the world. We are committed to making quality Christian education accessible to everyone, Border Christian College is founded on Christian principles and welcomes students from all religious and cultural backgrounds. Border Christian College provides a unique Pre-Kinder program designed to prepare children for school life. Similar to pre-school, with a focus on an enhanced learning experience. Catering for their early developmental needs and providing an enriching, caring Christian environment. Our Pre-Kinder program enables the children to gain an appreciation for literacy and numeracy to work as part of a group, to share, cooperate with and listen to others a capacity to think, investigate and solve problems as well as feel safe, secure, and accepted. The daily program is designed to meet the needs of the individual, recognizing that children develop at different rates. Each experience is provided with a purpose in mind. We operate on the school grounds within the school schedule allowing your child to become familiar with the daily surroundings, people, and routines of school. Your child will receive guidance in the skills and values promoted by and taught at Border Christian College. Border Christian College is a small school with composite classes where every aspect of the educational program is devoted to the development of the whole person. Small class sizes create an atmosphere of community with peers and allow teachers to provide exceptional care and develop strong, positive relationships with their students. Special, school-wide events and campus proximity allow students to become acquainted with Secondary staff, facilitating a smoother, more confident transition into high school. During this important formative time for students, Border Christian College’s Junior Secondary program provides focus on the development of a resilient character and discovery of personal aptitudes and abilities. This focus is facilitated through an emphasis on Christian values and a diverse program that seeks to introduce students to new skill areas and provide them with strong abilities in core areas. Border Christian College provides contemporary secondary facilities, which equip students with every advantage to excel in academic and practical areas.
