The Free University of Bozen-Bolzano is located in one of the fascinating European regions, at the crossroads between the German-speaking and Italian economies and cultures. Its trilingualism in teaching and research, its high level of Internationalisation, and an ideal study environment guaranteed by its excellent facilities are some of the reasons why unibz regularly reaches top positions in national and international rankings. The Free University of Bozen-Bolzano was founded in 1997. Our university has a healthy international outlook, as testified by its multilingual courses (German, Italian, English, and Ladin) and the high number of students and teaching staff from abroad. The university has five faculties, and a high percentage of lecturers (35%) and students (17%) come from abroad. The study will teach and research in the fields of Economics, Natural Sciences, Engineering, Social Sciences, Education, and Design. We have 4,100 students registered to more than 30 undergraduate and postgraduate degree courses. The taught modules on offer and our research projects are linked to international and inter-regional networks. For example, within the Euregio project, we are partnered with Innsbruck and Trento universities, and we are committed to reaching top quality standards. Our teaching and research programs revolve around five faculties and two research centers: Faculty of Economics and Management Faculty of Education Faculty of Computer Science Faculty of Design and Art Faculty of Science and Technology Competence Centre for Regional History Competence Centre for Language Studies In national rankings, our university reaches top positions every year. In 2017, for the fourth consecutive year, the Italian research center for social studies Censis had ranked our university as number one among smaller private universities (less than 5,000 students). We rank high in international rankings, too, especially under the categories ' internationalization', 'student satisfaction,' and 'practice-oriented.' We have been taking part in this international ranking for two years with our Faculty of Economics, Computer Science as well as science and technology and with our study programs in the social sciences (Bachelors in Social Work and Social Education and Master in Innovation and Research for Social Work and Social Education). We got our best results in the categories ' Internationalisation of students and academic staff' and 'Joint international publications.' unibz is a public institution, but not a state university. In addition to its financial means to fund teaching and research, the university receives its most significant share of funding from the Provincia Autonoma of Bozen-Bolzano, the local metropolitan administrative body. The basis of its strategic development is described in the strategic and financial plan and the three-year plan for 2014-2016. As a higher education institution governed by public law, unibz has its performance plan that defines its administration practice goals. As far as the quality standards for our degree courses and procedures to select our teaching staff are concerned, unibz adheres to the Italian Ministry of Education, Universities, and Research (MIUR).
