  1. Bodwell High School is a private, co-educational boarding school offering grades 8 to 12, and university preparation. Located in beautiful North Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, Bodwell's campus overlooks the Burrard Inlet and the beautiful Vancouver skyline. Recognized as a leader among Canadian boarding schools, our school's diverse student population of both local and international students makes it a comfortable and exciting place to learn, study, play, and build life-long memories and friendships. Bodwell is registered with and inspected by the BC Ministry of Education. All Bodwell students who complete our Grade 12 academic program will receive a Dogwood Diploma, a globally recognized certificate of graduation issued by the province of British Columbia. Course credits obtained at Bodwell are transferred to a students' home country for equivalence. Most of our students seek postsecondary education in college or university after Bodwell, many with academic scholarships. OUR MISSION provides a culturally diverse environment for students from around the globe and enables them to become active learners and well-rounded citizens who contribute positively to the world. Our school needs to be recognized in the community as one that achieves high academic standards, and whose students and graduates are citizens of good character. The most important criteria for measuring our mission's success will be our ability to attract students based on our vision of the high number of graduating students entering post-secondary institutions and the resulting sense of satisfaction and reward felt by the Bodwell school community. Everything we do is rooted in the concept of the "6 Ls." "Learn", "Liberate", "Live", "Lead", "Look", "Love" are the words that guide our academic and boarding programs. The 6 L's are meant to create well-rounded students by inspiring a sense of community and teamwork while developing skills and talents in various disciplines. Our wide variety of classes and extracurricular programming builds creative minds, healthy bodies, and courageous spirits. In September 1991, Bodwell High School embarked on its journey to educate students from around the globe. There were only six students in the first semester. The original campus was located on West 12th Avenue in the City of Vancouver (picture at left). In four years, enrollment grew to 250 students, representing a dozen countries. With modest school's facilities in the early years, Bodwell's wealth was in its school community of aspiring students and dedicated faculty. In 2015 - 2016, Bodwell embarked on its most ambitious expansion project yet. A new, multi-floor dormitory, housing over 500 boarding students, sits atop an expanded library and second gymnasium, as well as more classrooms and a state-of-the-art multimedia auditorium. The project also includes more expansive, outdoor spaces for recreation and a large underground parkade. Set to complete in 2017, this expansion is the culmination of years of planning and our desire to bring our unique educational perspective to more students from around the world. Several factors are considered for admission to Bodwell. We seek cultural diversity and look for students of academic and leadership potential from around the world. Our students succeed in a challenging English-speaking academic environment, demonstrate an interest in a variety of co-curricular and extracurricular activities, and are committed to serving their communities. Our Admissions staff evaluates various aspects, including academic records from the previous three years, personal profiles, reference letters, interviews, and other demonstrated achievements. We encourage you to explore our website to discover what makes Bodwell an exceptional school. We welcome you to ask us questions, come in for a tour, or even meet an Admissions staff in your home country. Bodwell accepts applications for the terms of September, January, and April. Applications should be submitted as early as possible and for international students, no later than four months before each term, as space in our boarding facilities is limited. Exceptions are only considered when space is available, and students present exceptional qualifications. Bodwell has high expectations and standards from which students are reviewed. While the rigorous curriculum will fully challenge students, Bodwell uses a flexible, balanced approach to teaching, allowing students to explore a topic of study independently or be guided through it. Students will be able to find their unique style and pace for learning, while support is always available in the classroom, study groups, and individual tutoring. View full school
