We pride ourselves on our small class sizes, quality teaching, and unique educational experience and welcome all children from ages 2½ - 13 years. Situated in stunning grounds within the South Downs National Park, we are a co-educational independent school near Chichester, West Sussex offering full or Flexi-boarding and wraparound care to our valued pupils. We are also in one of only 12 International Dark Skies Reserves. Nestled in the heart of the South Downs National Park, one of only 12 International Dark Sky Reserves in the world, pupils enjoy small class sizes and quality traditional teaching along with outdoor activities which make the most of our 30 acres of beautifully maintained grounds. On seeing Great Ballard School for the first time, it became clear to me that Great Ballard School sets itself apart from other schools not only in terms of quality teaching and small, dedicated class sizes but also for its stunning grounds and facilities here in the South Downs National Park. As a school, we were awarded a recent ‘excellent’ ISI inspection report last year which is something that myself and all the staff here at Great Ballard take great pride in. The school has a deserved reputation for providing a very personalized and caring all-around educational experience, where the many and varied abilities of each child can be both identified and developed, enabling all children to fulfill their potential. The school is very well respected by the many senior schools across the South East that we send our pupils on to. As a traditional Prep school - served with a modern twist - we aim to inspire pupils to discover their strengths, become confident young people, and achieve their full potential. Offering a 21st-century education, underpinned by traditional, but proven high standards and expectations, combined with the essential flexibility of meeting the many needs of the modern-day parent. We offer bespoke schooling options to support regular, intermittent, or emergency needs during term time as well as essential holiday provision for our younger children in Nursery and Reception (EYFS). We understand that many of our parents have work commitments and busy lives and these options reflect this. Boarding is offered in full, weekly, or Flexi options. Pupils are known by all staff, not just their form tutor, a particular strength and excellent foundation for progress.
