Fortunately, our Academic Support staff is standing by to help you adapt to achieve your big dreams. Our tutoring services are certified by the College Reading and Learning Association’s (CRLA) International Tutor Training Program. Averett is one of only 820 institutions around the world to achieve this distinction. We offer regular small-group meetings in the Galesi Family Student Success Center, and there is no need to book an appointment. Just show up during the meeting time for your preferred subject. The division of student life at Averett University is committed to providing an inclusive environment that enables each student to develop and enhance personal health and wellbeing, leadership skills, social responsibility, critical thinking, and a spirit of service. Students will be exposed to programs and initiatives designed to promote health and wellbeing, including health clinics, wellness counseling, health education, recreational activities, and spiritual exploration where appropriate. Students will have opportunities to participate in health and wellness fairs. Health and wellness educational materials and information will be displayed and distributed in key locations on campus. Students will participate in a group learning experience centered around the topic of emotional wellbeing and resilience. Ski trips and movie nights on the lawn. Comedians and leadership conferences. Easter egg hunts and bowling nights.Iron Chef in Jut’s Café and late-night breakfasts. Our Campus Activities Board works non-stop to keep the events coming all year long. But you will also find clubs and organizations for every interest – we have even got a competitive-flying team. The best thing about it? You can be a vital part of any group or event you choose starting the moment you arrive. Many of our activities are connected with national and international groups, meaning you have additional scope for expanding your network of friends. From honor societies to spiritual life groups, there are plenty of ways for you to get involved. The Office of Spiritual Life exists as an extension of one of Averett’s core institutional values, to “embrace Averett’s Judeo-Christian heritage, by honoring the search for truth and spiritual formation.” Headed by our University Chaplain, the Office of Spiritual Life serves as a resource for spiritual encouragement and challenging growth for all our students, regardless of faith background and perspective. Throughout the year, we offer a variety of clubs and programs for worship, study, reflection, service, and fellowship, along with providing the University Chaplain as a resource for faith counseling and support.
