Holy Apostles College & Seminary is a dynamic Catholic liberal arts college and seminary devoted to forming future priests and Catholic community leaders. The goal of the Holy Apostles is to cultivate Catholic leaders for evangelization. We welcome and serve seminarians, lay students, as well as religious sisters. Holy Apostles offers a microcosm of the Church where lay people study alongside seminarians and religious to support and learn from one another. The mission of Holy Apostles College & Seminary is to cultivate lay, consecrated, and ordained Catholic leaders for evangelization. In addition to formal education, Holy Apostles has five specific goals in mind to encourage the full spiritual, emotional, and psychological development of each of its students. Holy Apostles' goal is for students, faculty, and staff to be united in Christ in a culturally diverse atmosphere, fostering the integral formation of the person, affective maturation, and the capacity for healthy, holy, and happy relationships. We focus on forming the total person – humanly, intellectually, and spiritually, in a unique environment that is a universal Church's microcosm. Students from 5 continents are represented in an atmosphere that promotes the person's dignity, their search for the truth, growth in the virtues, and acquiring knowledge for their service to others. A simple but profound illustration is a custom at Holy Apostles: a dean picks up the tray of students after lunch and clears the table, a small act promoting loving, humble, joyful service. Here, the goals enshrined by most colleges of individual autonomy and personal freedom to fulfill one's desires are reconciled with the social nature of the person and the common good – a philosophy lived out in a familial community. The collegial environment is one of the most unique that any student could experience anywhere. We are a small, close-knit, culturally diverse student body in a family environment representing five continents and made up of priests, seminarians, religious sisters, and lay students. And while we are a Catholic college, our hearts and doors are open to all faith traditions and beliefs where everyone feels valued and welcome. The environment gives rise to a maturation process of intellectual, spiritual, and human formation, unlike anything else we know of that has the student's success as its goal. Whether a student is here for two or three years or elects to graduate from Holy Apostles, the student who has studied at Holy Apostles has a significant advantage in their development. Our mission is evangelization. For 60 years, we have focused on: "Cultivating Catholic Leaders for Evangelization," and we have experience doing that like none other, educating seminarians internationally, including some of the most repressive regimes in the world. That yeast leavens the dough throughout the college, both on-campus and online. The (M. Div.) Master of Divinity is a professional degree designed for men preparing to be ordained to the Catholic Priesthood or permanent Diaconate. Successful completion of the Master of Divinity program attests to the recipient's competency for exercising priestly ministry gained from a thorough grounding in Sacred Scripture, Dogmatic and Moral Theology, Spiritual and Pastoral Theology, Canon Law, Liturgy, Homiletics, and Church History. It is a particular aim of the Holy Apostles Seminary to provide priestly education in the Catholic spirit. This means that Catholic values inform all our instruction and formation work. These same values are reflected in the concern to provide personal and spiritual formation by focusing on integrating the Gospel ideals into daily life. The life of the seminary is centered on the Eucharist, mostly daily Mass. It is nourished by the Liturgy of the Hours and times of personal prayer. The traditions of seminary life here encourage Eucharistic worship, frequent reception of the Sacrament of Reconciliation, devotion to Mary, love for the Church, respect for human life, concern for the poor, and a commitment to a priestly life of sacrifice and service. Holy Apostles welcomes students of all ages and backgrounds. Students range from the traditional high school graduate to the seasoned retiree seeking more in-depth knowledge of their faith. Our objective is to prepare college seminarians to study theology and law students for further studies and, most significantly, for life. While challenging, academics are student-centered and designed to produce individuals who are well educated in mind, body, and soul. Our Online Campus allows flexibility for busy students, especially those who are working or have families. Our online courses are hosted through an online forum that allows for discussion, collaboration, and community setting. Holy Apostles sits beautifully overlooking the Connecticut River valley in the historic town of Cromwell, Connecticut. Holy Apostles offers the convenience of being a short commute to Hartford and New Haven.
