Aksaray University is a state university whose foundation was accepted by the Council of Ministers in 2006. As a result of law no. Five thousand four hundred sixty-seven published in Official Gazette no. 26111 with 17th March 2006. While subsidiary to Niğde University, it became an independent university with its own President, having faculties and schools within the constitution. Prof. Yusuf Şahin is the President of the university. There are associate degree and undergraduate programs within nine faculties, seven vocational schools, four schools in Aksaray University. The Institute of Social Sciences and the Institute of Natural and Applied Sciences have graduate programs. As to the academic staff, there are 21 professors, 72 associate professors, 262 assistant professors, 134 Instructors, 27 lecturers, and 198 research assistants in Aksaray University, 684 in total. With the scientific independence power, ASÜ fulfilling the responsibility in the light of universal values aims to serve the society in the research, education, and service fields by utilizing the knowledge of science, technology, culture, art and to grow qualified and modern individuals for the future of our country. University means the universal city, so you all our valuable students are the residents of this city. Students might consult the Psychological Counseling and Guidance Unit for their emotional and social problems. This unit carries out preventive actions for potential problems. In other words, it tries to help students to be prepared for potential difficulties.
