    Pembroke Hill is a community of learners - students, faculty/staff, parents, and alumni. We are dedicated to helping our students achieve educational excellence while guiding them to become individuals of character who believe that they can and make a difference in our school community and the community beyond Pembroke Hill.

    Our school enjoys the dedicated support of all school community members, and we are well aware that it truly takes the efforts of our entire community for our school to be the dynamic and prosperous environment that it is. It is often said at Pembroke Hill that when a child enrolls in our school, the entire family enrolls!

    We are proud of our diverse community that includes individuals representing all geographic, ethnic, religious, and socio-economic sectors. This diversity makes us strong and provides the school with many opportunities for beautiful discussions, insights, and understanding.

    Our approach is remarkably simple. Put talented and diverse young people together with skilled and dedicated adults, with support from engaged and committed families, and you create extraordinary results that speak for themselves. This combination produces a school culture that must be experienced in order to be truly understood. It is a culture where students at all levels say it is "cool to do your best" or "cool to be smart" and where mathematicians, athletes, writers, musicians, and class leaders all thrive side-by-side, often within the same student.

    The relationships forged between faculty and students are the heart of the Pembroke Hill experience. Many adults know every young person. This intimacy and long-term commitment forge a bond that is rare in today's world. Teachers expect much of their students, but they expect even more from themselves. Every day I get to see this result in students achieving more than they thought possible. At Pembroke Hill, our educational goals help us form our beliefs and our values.

    Our students learn in an environment where expectations are high, and excellence is expected. At PHS, all students work hard and find supportive peers in their academic and extracurricular endeavors. We are proud of our diverse and inclusive community - 25 percent of Pembroke Hill students are students of color, and over 100 of our current students have at least one parent who was born outside of the United States.

    Pembroke Hill has a strong commitment to community service, from our youngest students through upper school - 60 hours of service during upper school are required for graduation. A large majority exceed this requirement. Our school promotes character development and emphasizes respect, compassion, scholarship, and integrity.

    Our extracurricular program offers extensive opportunities for students beginning in kindergarten. Students may participate in chess, publications, community service, student government, interscholastic athletics (starting in middle school), and special interest clubs. Nearly 80 percent of our upper school students have been involved in an extracurricular activity 75 percent are part of an athletic team. Pembroke Hill is accredited by the Independent Schools Association of the Central States (ISACS) and is a member of the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS).

    The Pembroke Hill School has a rich tradition focusing on empowering all students to build strong character. This character development is unified and guided by our four core values of Respect, Compassion, Scholarship, and Integrity. We further empower students to develop their intellectual, physical, and creative abilities to the highest level. We believe in fostering our students the joy of learning, the love of discovery, the confidence to grow, and a sense of responsibility and respect for others. Talented and dedicated faculty instill these ideals in students every day. Our commitment is to provide a culture of excellence, where teaching and learning happen with enthusiasm each day.

    The Pembroke Hill School is a college preparatory school where the emphasis is on the whole child. The four school divisions - early childhood, lower school, middle school, and upper school - provide excellent educational programs appropriate for the children in that division. The school provides small classroom environments with some of the region's finest teachers and a challenging curriculum. Because of the small size of classes, students are very well known by the adults in the school community who support them and encourage them to reach their full potential.
