Sage Ridge School is a non-sectarian, coeducational, college preparatory private day school in Reno, Nevada. This is how we define ourselves, but there is much more to us than that. Not only does our prep school provide our students with world-class educational opportunities, but we also do so while living by our value pillars of Respect, integrity, Community, courage, and Scholarship.

We show Respect for self, one's peers, teachers, and family is a critical piece of everyday life of the Sage Ridge School. Integrity is the glue that binds the Sage Ridge "Academic Village" and refers to the importance of honesty in all activities, initiatives, academic endeavors, and personal interactions.

For us, Community stresses the importance of communication, interaction, and cohesiveness among students, faculty, staff, and parents. Courage refers to the importance of stretching oneself and being tenacious in the quest to become a better student and a better person. To us, Scholarship embodies the pursuit of excellence in academics that supports a lifelong passion for learning.

"Sage Ridge School graduates curious and confident citizens who embrace rigorous scholarship, respect the dignity of individuals, choose integrity, embody courage, cultivate a compassionate community, and ultimately thrive in college and our global society."

At Sage Ridge School, we care about the whole child. Our mission and pillars -Scholarship, Respect, Integrity, Courage, Community- define and guide the Sage Ridge experience. We are Reno's only non-sectarian, coeducational, college preparatory day school, and we provide our students with world-class educational opportunities. Sage Ridge School is a fully accredited member of the Northwest Association of Independent Schools (NWAIS) and is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.

In 1996, community leaders, parents, and educators came together with a vision to augment the area's educational opportunities by providing the first college preparatory school serving the Truckee Meadows. Those founders set forth the following goals:

    • Challenge students through an integrated, core college prep curriculum
    • Generate excitement for learning
    • Foster self-discipline while nourishing self-confidence
    • Emphasize and incorporate sound ethical and moral values in all that it does
    • Encourage a sense of social responsibility
    • Serve a diverse student population
    • Provide adequate need-based financial assistance for qualified applicants
    • Offer a wide range of extra and co-curricular activities
    • Require a high standard of conduct
    • Prepare students for subsequent academic challenges of the most rigorous nature

Deciding where to send your child to school is one of the hardest decisions parents face today. We live in an increasingly competitive world clouded by educational fads and ever-changing declarations on the benefits of certain types of schools, tests, and standards. At Sage Ridge School, we believe in educating children for the future by instilling in them the fundamentals of critical thinking, writing, and problem-solving skills both in the classroom and co-curricular activities. Moreover, we prepare students for college while embracing their creativity and passions.

We strive to reflect the greater Reno community and look for students who are willing to stretch and challenge themselves academically. Sage Ridge seeks students who are willing to be involved in our school community and have interests outside the school. We want students who, along with their parents, support our college preparatory school's mission and our Value Pillars of Scholarship, Respect, Integrity, Courage, and Community.

It only takes a few moments of conversation with a Sage Ridge student to realize that something unusual is happening in and out of our school's classrooms. Central to the Sage Ridge education is the everyday relationship between students and teachers. Students collaborate with faculty in a safe, compassionate environment strengthened by shared values, self-reliance, and optimism. Our faculty works with all students, addressing their strengths and weaknesses to acquire the necessary knowledge, skills, and dispositions to succeed in their collegiate careers.

Classes are the hubs of learning where students share ideas, work together to solve problems, and take ownership of their learning. College prep classes in all departments are small and allow teachers and students to get to know each other and work together daily. Because of this individual attention and one-on-one support, Sage Ridge School students achieve notable success with their coursework. We take pride in the fact that no one falls through the cracks. We provide our students with a challenging college preparatory curriculum that is developmentally appropriate for intellectually capable adolescents. Our curriculum classes are led by engaging and dedicated teachers who have high expectations for all students while always putting the students first. These outstanding teachers use our Pillars of Respect, Integrity, Community, Courage, and Scholarship as a framework for class discussions and atmosphere, creating an educational environment where students feel supported, respected, included, and safe.

In our Middle School and Upper School, students strive to achieve academic success and healthy personal development. The curriculum for Grades 4-12 is carefully crafted to build from year to year students' content knowledge and skill set. Students who leave our Middle School are prepared to be successful for Upper School and with the foundation for a lifetime of learning and growth. Year after year, our Upper School students are well prepared for higher education, with 100 percent of graduating Seniors continuing their studies at colleges and universities throughout the United States.
