Marian helps create strong women of mind and heart. As one of the best private and faith-based schools in southeastern Michigan, Marian High School helps students become women who lead from within. More than just a high school, Marian is a community that helps young women develop a strong core of wisdom, character, and service that will guide them throughout their lives.
When the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary opened Marian High School in 1959, they dreamed of continuing their tradition of offering young women in the metropolitan Detroit area the finest Catholic education possible. They believed that young women needed and desired the challenge of an excellent academic program in the classroom accompanied by a commitment to serve others in the world beyond the classroom. We cherish that vision as we look toward the future.
For 60 years, members of our faculty and staff have committed themselves to create an environment marked by academic excellence and a Christian community. We want each of our students to be successful and happy in her academic and co-curricular endeavors. Our experience proves that our challenging program leads to acceptance at colleges and universities of choice. Our focus on the development of the total person results in young women who are prepared to relish all that life has to offer.
Our students represent a diverse population, each bringing her individual talents to school, each student enriching the others. Marian High School is a place to grow – intellectually, spiritually, socially, emotionally, and physically. We invite you to join us and experience what it is to be empowered to explore and excel.
Marian is a Catholic college preparatory school for young women, sponsored by the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. The mission of Marian High School is to ensure within a Christian environment, an excellent education built on a strong academic curriculum, which will enable young women to value human diversity and live responsible lives of leadership and action based on gospel values.
Many families choose Marian because it provides an environment where girls come first, and academic excellence is viewed as the norm. Within Marian's Catholic setting, students encourage and support each other. They find confidence in their abilities, feel empowered to challenge themselves, and grow in their faith. They learn to lead from within. They learn lessons that last a lifetime.
The Theology Department seeks to educate young women in an environment permeated by Gospel values of love, compassion, justice, reconciliation, and concern for the poor. This is done so that students, in turn, will be loving, compassionate, and reconciling persons who are motivated to exert the full strength of their knowledge and influence toward the creation of a peaceful and just world.
