The school has a very good reputation within the community for its caring and friendly atmosphere and its pursuit of high standards. The school has worked hard on its links with the local community and we take pride in our partnership with parents/guardians.
The school’s 4-year building program has now been completed. This has resulted in a new Administration and Sixth Form block a fully refurbished Science block including new laboratories and teaching rooms fully refurbished and new teaching rooms in the old 1970 block new Music rooms and Drama studio together with Canolfan Amanwy, a specialist teaching center for pupils with multiple learning difficulties. The upgrading of the Art, Design, and Technology block together with improvements to the Physical Education department has also been completed.
The school is a thriving, successful mixed bilingual comprehensive of some 1600 pupils based on a large campus. There is a sixth form of some 290 pupils. The school is located in the small town of Ammanford at the foot of the Black Mountains. Pupils attending the school come from a large catchment area which is a mixture of rural and industrial. The school reflects and enhances the bilingual nature of the area.
The school has excellent sports facilities, including a sports hall, a swimming pool, a new astroturf for Hockey and Football, together with new Tennis courts. There is also a fine tradition of sporting achievements and other extra-curricular activities in the school. Many boys and girls represent their county and country in several fields. New members of staff will be joining a highly committed and caring staff.
