Ysgol Craig y Don is a primary school in Llandudno, a beautiful coastal town resort known as the “Queen of the Welsh Resorts.” The school, on its current site, was established in 1977 and prides itself on the high standards of teaching and learning attained by pupils and staff.
We aim to provide vibrant and relevant learning experiences which will equip each of our pupils for any challenge that the future brings.
Our mission statement is “Enabling all to thrive and blossom as successful and complete individuals.” We aim to deliver this within a happy, secure, and stimulating learning environment, where the contributions and energy of all members of our school community are welcomed and appreciated.
An education system aims to create situations and provide resources that will enable each child to develop a full personality, to develop and exercise all his or her abilities, to provide for the pupil by his/her age, ability, and aptitude so that he/she can become a responsible member of a bilingual society, able to contribute to that society and benefit from it, and to live in peace and fraternity with fellow men.
To develop oral, literary, and numerical skills in the context of inspiring the child’s enthusiasm, imagination, and interest. To increase the child’s knowledge and to develop his/her powers of reasoning to assist him/her to adapt to a rapidly changing world that has more sophisticated processes and techniques in particular about information technology. To create in each child the desire to seek further knowledge and experience during his/her life and to develop his powers of mind, his/her moral and spiritual awareness.
To assist the child to live and work with others and to develop attitudes that will enable him/her to become a responsible member of the community. To develop sensitivity, aesthetic appreciation, and leisure skills in the child. To provide particular attention for each child with special needs, e.g. for the exceptionally able and those with various disadvantages. To present ideas and concepts by employing lively and dynamic methods which will motivate pupils’ response.
Every school must prepare and develop a comprehensive plan based on the Education Authority’s document. This plan will include details of the education course and the way it is operated to ensure that the education given to the pupils meets fully with the aims of the document.
