All eligible students have an equal right to a work experience placement to experience the world of work irrespective of ability, gender, or race. Each student will be offered the opportunity to express a preference for the kind of work they wish to try through a properly organized program designed to suit individual needs. The Cumberland School values success for everyone in its mission statement.
This year we have offered additional work experience placements to those pupils that have expressed interest and been willing to complete this during their Easter, May, or summer holiday. These placements have been supplied through our recent engagement and collaborative work with Newham Careers Cluster.

At The Cumberland School, we offer high-quality opportunities and activities outside the main curriculum. These activities are an important and exciting feature of school life and contribute enormously to our student's social and academic development. We believe all our students should experience success in as many aspects of school life as possible and extra-curricular activities are one avenue to success.
There is an extensive menu of extra-curricular activities on offer including arts and sporting provision, with opportunities to take part in workshops, creative activities, and fixtures. We also offer students the chance to experience learning differently, to visit educational venues linked to different curricular areas.
Theatre performances, visits to exhibitions and museums plus excursions to local colleges and universities occur regularly and provide further opportunities for students to enrich and extend their learning beyond the classroom. We have a broad range of experiences on offer from creative workshops where pupils learn the skills to build their furniture to music groups and the school choir. Students readily enjoy these experiences and relish the unique opportunities that they are given to extend and expand their learning.
