Welcome to Talbot Heath, a school that prides itself on its love of learning, strong principles, and warmth. Our school has developed a reputation for excellence, high standards, and values over 130 years. A Church of England School, founded in 1886 to provide a first-class liberal education for girls, the school cherishes its past while looking firmly to the future with an approach to education that is innovative and dynamic.
The education that Talbot Heath offers its pupils, from age 3 to 18, is holistic and focussed on preparing the girls for the future that awaits them. Intellectual curiosity and academic rigor go hand in hand with independent and interdisciplinary learning. The young people of today will need to be creative thinkers, digitally proficient, adaptable, resilient, and capable of working both collaboratively and independently. The future will be powered by STEAM (Science Technology Engineering, the Arts and Mathematics) and our pupils need to be confident and competent in all these areas. Our ground-breaking approach to education which combines rigor with exploration focuses on a curriculum that is creative, broad, and in line with that being offered by the most dynamic and successful schools globally.
Our girls are encouraged to think big and have aspirations we do not limit their thinking according to age or preconceptions of outcomes. We offer a broad range of opportunities to girls to allow them to work with like-minded pupils across the school on projects as diverse as robotics, debating, dragons' den, baking, and art installations.
The vision for the school has been to be liberal, progressive, and pioneering from its very outset. Girls were to be equipped with knowledge, confidence, skills and inspired to blaze a trail in any sphere. It is no coincidence that Talbot Heath girls were many of the first female graduates, doctors, editors, judges, film directors, and scientific professors in the country.
There is no one type of Talbot Heath girl - we encourage individuality and our supportive and secure learning environment allows pupils to be themselves, confident in the knowledge that they will be valued by staff and peers for who they are. There are, however, certain traits that are common to all our pupils:
Talbot Heath girls are confident but not arrogant, knowledgeable but not complacent, able to express their opinions but willing to listen to those of others, independent yet supportive, strong yet compassionate, principled but fun. They value what they have and they value others. They are keen to play a role in the wider world but have a strong sense of community. They are original but can work as a team.
Our pupils love coming here, our staff love working here- we are proud of our school and the education that we offer. We look forward to welcoming you in person to our school and showing you firsthand why TH is unique.
Our extremely positive learning environment brings out the best in the pupils from age 3-18 and the close rapport between staff and girls means that they realize their full potential.
Our girls achieve consistently high results at all Key Stages going back decades, resulting in success accessing places at the UK’s most prestigious universities.
The caliber of our teaching staff and their commitment to their pupils is second to none. We offer a dynamic and forward-looking curriculum within a highly supportive and nurturing environment. Achievements of all are celebrated, girls give of their best in whatever they do.
Our education is broad and holistic, girls excel in their subjects - with commitment and passion and continue to further their education in many universities. Our pupils are happy and can be themselves, as there is little peer pressure and a strong school ethos based upon principles and consideration for others.
Talbot Heath was founded in 1886 by Mary Broad to provide a first-class liberal education for girls, an aim that holds today.
A committed social reformer and devoted Christian, Miss Broad wished to provide a rigorous education with high academic standards, while developing a genuine love of life and learning in her pupils. At Talbot Heath, we cherish our long traditions and heritage while celebrating modernity and dynamism.
Talbot Heath is a Church of England School founded on Christian principles but we welcome pupils of all faiths.
Our approach is an inclusive one where all members of the community are united in the importance they place on principles, compassion, and consideration of others.
The School’s motto is ‘Honour Before Honours’ and this underpins the community. We care for each other and support one another. Integrity and character lie at the heart of who we are.
