At Stag Lane Junior School our vision is that our children will become confident, motivated, lifelong learners who will be able to communicate effectively in an ever-changing multicultural world. As adults they will be innovative, creative decision-makers, who make positive contributions to society, apply and peacefully defend human rights, and strive for integrity, well-being, and global justice.

The school is very committed to the UNCRC Rights of the Child. We will ensure the rights of every child are upheld by:

We lay great emphasis on children’s health and well-being as well as creativity and our curriculum reflects this. All children are taught how to keep healthy and active and understand their rights and responsibilities.

- Praise and encouragement
- Commendations in the homework diary
- Celebrating good behavior with others e.g. parents, Headteacher, Deputy Headteacher, Class Teacher, and other children
- Star of the Week Assemblies and certificated displayed on the Star of the Week Board
- House Points, stickers, and stars
- Golden Time for individual, group, or class
- Special Headteacher commendation sent home
Each year the school identifies areas for further development and earmarks funding for this work which is mainly used for training or resources. We have identified 5 main areas this year as the Government has made major changes to assessment, the curriculum, and SEN. One of the objectives has been identified by the Parent Council. The Governing Body agrees on the School Development Plan and regularly reviews the progress of the actions.
