St Michael's CE Primary School has a unique quality, it's a friendly, inclusive, and welcoming school with a history of high aspirations for all of the children who learn at the school.
St Michael's is first and foremost a learning environment, preparing children for a happy, confident entry into the world. This means building their confidence and belief in themselves through our Christian ethos. Our pupils come from diverse backgrounds and we are proud to reflect the cosmopolitan mix of London. We are a small school although the School's extended community is strong. We believe that children learn best when they are happy, secure, stimulated, and challenged both academically and through extra-curricular pursuits.
St Michael's s CE Primary School is situated in Wood Green in the London Borough of Haringey. It is a one-form entry, primary school with a current roll of 210 children.
The school is proud of its MISSION: "Inspired to excel with the freedom to dream" and works in partnership with parents and the local church to achieve this. St Michael's is an Academy School with a strong Christian ethos and values.
We strive to help all pupils to understand religious beliefs, practices, and insights that have been handed down to them from the past, so that they may develop as individuals and members of society having a fuller awareness of the present-day living faith.
Our Christian values are at the heart of our school and everything we do. We aim to provide a caring, stable, and intellectually stimulating environment where all children can develop their potential.
Parents have strongly expressed their desire for their children to attend the school due to our ethos and the positive, inclusive way we encourage these values. All our children are equally important and we encourage and celebrate our differences.

We not only provide children with a broad general knowledge of the way the democratic system in Great Britain functions, but we give them opportunities to take an active part in the decision-making process in school by using the democratic process of voting and representation.
During class time, the children earn "Gold Stars" throughout the school day. These are tallied and every Friday children who have collected 5, 10, or 15-star awards are given a Gold Certificate.
The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) is the period of education from birth to five years. During the Reception class, the children work towards the early learning goals. Most children are expected to achieve the early learning goals by the end of the Foundation Stage.
There is a strong emphasis on children learning through play, both child-initiated and planned play. The curriculum is delivered through a combination of whole-class activities, adult-led focussed activities, and child-initiated activities. In our Reception Class, we teach children through ‘topics’ and these are based on the children’s interests.
KS1 classes (Year 1 and Year 2) follow the National Curriculum, with emphasis on reading, writing, speaking & listening, mathematics and science. They use units from Milepost 1 of the IPC
KS2 follows the National Curriculum, with an emphasis on English, maths, and science. Years 3 & 4 use units from Milepost 2 of the IPC, whereas Years 5 & 6 use units from Milepost 3.
At St Michael's we use the International Primary Curriculum (IPC) to help underpin the curriculum excitingly and engagingly. We offer a curriculum that gives the children the opportunity to acquire the social and academic knowledge, skills, and understanding of the world that will adequately prepare them for the next stage of their learning and ultimately for later life.
