St. Matthew’s is a warm, welcoming, and supportive school where a great emphasis is placed on all-around personal development as well as academic progress. As a Church of England Primary School, our aim is that all children grow in the faith of God, and our school motto, ‘Forward Through Friendship and Faith’ helps all of those who are part of St. Matthew’s to understand this. The school dates from 1872. Since that time it has served many generations of young people in the area of Yiewsley with enthusiasm and commitment.
We strive to develop strong links with the Church and Community, where children are encouraged to reflect on their beliefs and learn the meaning and significance of faith. We have a close relationship with the Parish Church of St. Matthew on Yiewsley High Street. Both churches and schools serve the same community and efforts are made to foster the relationship between both. The school participates in Church services and events and uses the Church for whole school worship and productions. Children are encouraged to promote Christian values and show compassion to all. Regular Christian Worship is an important part of life at St. Matthew’s CE Primary School. We also believe that education is a lifelong process and that whatever children learn at St. Matthew’s will form the building blocks for the rest of their lives. We have built a relevant and carefully constructed curriculum that takes into account the national requirements and the needs of our community and enables all children to develop, providing opportunities for them to achieve high standards.
St. Matthew’s C.E. Primary School is federated with another local Church of England Primary School, Cowley St. Laurence C.E. Primary School. As part of the Federation, we can develop high-quality teaching and learning to give all our children the best possible opportunities in their primary education. In addition, St. Matthew’s is a National Support School and can work alongside another school to support teaching and learning. We are committed, as part of the vision of the school, that all children should reach their potential and achieve standards at least in line, and hopefully above national expectations.
St. Matthew’s Nursery is part of St. Matthew’s C. E. Primary School and the school values and ethos is continued into St. Matthew’s Nursery. We believe that the year that pupils spend in the Nursery is very important and is the start of the children’s journey in education. The curriculum is designed to enable all children to develop, providing them opportunities to achieve high standards.
