St John’s C.E. Primary School is a Church of England Voluntary Aided school. We aim to provide our pupils, including those of other faiths and no faith, with a high-quality education within the context of Christian beliefs and practices.
St John’s C.E. Primary School N20 from the age of 3, we welcome children into a community that is small enough to feel secure but large enough to offer a huge breadth of experiences. We aim to provide outstanding academic and pastoral support to all children, whilst nurturing each individual through our Christian ethos. Our pupils develop a sense of responsibility, learning to care about both our school community and the world beyond.
Through Jesus Christ, we nurture, encourage and challenge everyone to love learning, be their very best today, and be prepared for tomorrow. In our caring environment, our children are encouraged to grow into lifelong learners and are constantly challenged to fulfill their dreams. We listen to and respect every individual, everyone’s efforts are celebrated and we always strive for excellence. Together as a loving community, we are guided to Christ in everything we do.
St John’s has a strong Christian ethos which is at the heart of everything we do. All children participate in daily collective worship when we join together as a school family. We have strong links with the Christian Church, especially St John The Apostle, and are regularly led in prayer by the clergy.
We encourage our children to try their best, have a go, and always aspire to improve. We believe in having a growth mindset, promoting curiosity, concentration, resilience, imagination, determination, cooperation, and an enjoyment of learning. Efforts and hard work are always recognized and rewarded. There are no limits to anyone’s learning and we strongly believe in the power of the word ‘yet’ when referring to something we cannot do it encourages everyone to realize that we still can achieve in the future something that we might not currently be able to do.
We also love to celebrate our achievements, whether that’s playing in our orchestra, challenging ourselves at chess, taking part in the wide range of sporting activities on offer, making suggestions in the school council meetings, or demonstrating fantastic effort and learning.
We know that happy children learn best. We focus on giving all of our pupils a positive start to their education, striving to equip them to become independent lifelong learners in a forever-changing world.
At St John’s, we recognize that the spiritual, moral, social, and cultural development of our children plays a significant part in their ability to grow, learn and achieve.
As a Church of England school, our curriculum provides opportunities for the pupils to explore and progress their knowledge and understanding of Christian beliefs, whilst developing a deeper understanding of the cultural diversity, traditions, and richness of other world faiths. We also fully promote positive attitudes towards behavior for learning through our ‘Growth Mindset’ culture and reinforce the importance of leading active and healthy lifestyles.
