We aim to provide prospective and new parents with information about the school’s ethos, procedures, and policies and also to keep existing parents up to date with day-to-day news and information. Established in 1869, St George’s has always been well known within the local area as being a small and welcoming community primary school. St George’s provides a happy, stable, and caring environment whereby our children, staff, and parents work actively in partnership to enable all children to realize their full potential.
Within our friendly environment, all children feel valued, secure, listened to, and know that their welfare and education are paramount. Our dedicated staff is committed to developing the children’s knowledge, skills, and understanding, whilst enabling the children to enjoy learning, take risks, and become independent thinkers and confident individuals.
St George’s is a Forest School. Forest School, through its ethos and curriculum, can provide an environment in which a child can grow and learn in a calm, active and purposeful atmosphere. Forest School is an inspirational process, that offers ALL learners regular opportunities to achieve and develop confidence and self-esteem through hands-on learning experiences in a natural environment with trees. Forest School is a specialized learning approach that sits within and compliments the wider context of outdoor education. Our Academy fosters a strong sense of belonging both to the school community and as a citizen of Britain with the responsibilities that citizenship brings.
Our Academy has an Equality Policy, which guarantees that there will be no discrimination against any individual or group, regardless of faith, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, political or financial status, or similar. It seeks to serve all so that everyone feels a sense of belonging.
In response to the Department for Education’s guidance on promoting British values in schools, the Academy seeks to ensure young people leave school prepared for life in modern Britain and are members of society who treat others with respect and tolerance, regardless of background.
The ‘Prevent strategy sets out these values and St George’s must ‘actively promote’ the fundamental British values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, and mutual respect and tolerance of those of different faiths and beliefs together with a clear strategy for embedding these values.
