St Boniface is a Roman Catholic Primary School in the heart of Tooting. We are a happy and successful school, committed to providing the highest quality of education possible within a strong Catholic ethos. We value good manners, respect for others, and hard work. We want our children to leave our school with high standards of English and maths – able to contribute to society as good and responsible citizens who are proud of their Catholic faith.
At St Boniface School we aim to provide a high standard of education within the context of a Catholic Christian community that recognizes the uniqueness of each individual. We strive to help each child to achieve their very best and to grow in knowledge, understanding, skills, attitudes, and values.
We want our school to be a happy place to work and learn a place where our relationships are based on the examples of Jesus through the Gospels a place where people are respectful, trusting, and caring towards one another. Through our worshipping and celebrating together we recognize, are united by, and rejoice in God’s greatness and love for each one of us. As a catholic school, we recognize our call to serve and contribute to our local and Parish communities and to appreciate the broader multicultural/faith community in which St. Boniface School is situated.
Children are admitted to the school under the Governing Body’s published admissions criteria. Preference is given to baptized children of practicing Catholic parents who live in St. Boniface parish. Parents who are considering applying for a place at St. Boniface are invited to attend our open morning in November. There is the opportunity to see the school in action, ask questions and collect the necessary application documents. To make an application to St Boniface School, two forms must be completed:
Common Application Form: This form is available from your local authority. Most local authorities now provide this form online with a brochure offering advice and information. The form must be completed and submitted by the deadline published in the local authority brochure.
Supplementary Information and Priest’s Declaration Form: This form is available from the school or on this website (under the tab called Supplementary Information Form). Completion of this form is not mandatory however if one is not received the Governors will not be able to apply their admission criteria and the application will be considered under the ‘any other children’ category.
As a Catholic school, our life, work, and relationships with one another are informed by the example and teachings of Jesus. We use ‘The Way, The Truth and The Life’ scheme as a basis for our teaching. The syllabus is based on the Religious Education Curriculum Directory for Catholic schools. It has been developed in response to the need for a clear framework for effective, systematic, and rigorous teaching and learning, equal to that of other curriculum areas. The syllabus incorporates attainment targets: learning about the Catholic faith (AT1) and learning from the Catholic faith (AT2). Children’s attainment is measured through the application of progressively advanced generic skills in understanding and explaining. The two units to be studied each term are sent out in the termly newsletter. We recognize the contribution that the study of other areas of the curriculum brings to a child’s understanding of the work and love of God in our world. We recognize parents as the first and most important teachers of their children and aim to support them in this role.
We live in a multicultural society alongside many people of other faith traditions. We want our children to grow up as tolerant, responsible contributors to society who can learn from and about other religions. Two units of work on other major faiths are covered throughout key stage one and key stage two each year, one of which is always Judaism.
