Welcome to St Andrew and St Francis CE Primary School. Andrew and St Francis CE Primary School is a vibrant and exciting place of learning, as it has been in times past. We are building on the tradition of producing critical and influential thinkers who shape our world.

Our Ethos and Values St. Andrew & St. Francis is a nurturing and dynamic community, rooted in Christian and British values, where children are encouraged to be the best they can be.

Christian Values are Reverence, Wisdom, Humility, Service, Endurance, Trust, Compassion, Forgiveness, Peace, Thankfulness, Creation, Justice, Friendship, Koinonia, Hope. British Values are Democracy, Rule of Law, Individual liberty, Mutual respect, Tolerance of others.

We will do everything we can to help every child understand the importance of these values through the way we behave towards them and each other. Each child’s educational, emotional and spiritual welfare is vitally important and we commit to doing our very best for every child.

    Our aim is:

    • To develop creative, confident lifelong learners.
    • To provide a broad-based curriculum, where all children are set challenging, yet achievable goals based on their differing needs and potential.
    • To provide the best possible education for every child in a supportive environment where everyone learns and worships together.
    • To celebrate and nurture the whole child through a strong partnership between the school, families, parish, and the community.
    • To develop well-rounded, thoughtful children who share and live by positive values.

We could summarise our vision with a phrase such as: "Securing Achievement for a Successful Future”. We aim to provide the foundation on which children can grow, enabling them to move on to the next stage of their lives.

We aim to provide a broad and balanced skills-based creative curriculum with cross-curricular links to core subjects. This is generally thematic-based. Our Core subjects of Reading, Writing, and Mathematics follow proven programs including Daily Supported Reading, Destination Reader, and Mathematics Mastery.

Our English curriculum is split into the 2 areas of Reading and Writing and is supported with a rigorous scheme of Spelling, Punctuation, and Grammar (SPAG). Reading is taught daily using Daily Supported Reading and Phonics (Letters and Sounds with Jolly Phonics) in the Early Years and Key Stage 1 and Destination Reader in Key Stage 2.

Writing follows a "Text-based Literacy" approach, with texts often matching those in the Reading curriculum and with lessons providing structured support for longer writing activities on Thursdays with opportunities for up-leveling and re-drafting on Fridays.

Being a Church of England school religious education is a core subject. We teach about the major religions of the world and this is complemented by exploring the common values we share within major faiths.

We Believe school trips and educational visits should be viewed as powerful, positive teaching tools that help enhance the social, personal, and emotional development of all learners and bring the curriculum and learning to life.
