Welcome to Snowsfields Primary School. We are a friendly and caring one from entry school taking 28 children into our mainstream classes each year. The school includes a nursery class with 26 part-time children and a Resource Base for children with Autism.
The school itself is a Victorian building, with large classrooms spread over four floors. We have a beautiful garden which has been developed over the years and is used as an outside learning environment through our ‘Garden School’. The playground is well resourced, with the additional benefit of a shared community kick-about pitch.
We have worked hard to improve the school year on year, both academically and through our enrichment programs. This has been reflected in several awards that we have received including the Primary Science Quality Mark (Silver), An Artsmark Award, the NACE Challenge Award for excellence in provision for gifted and talented pupils, a Healthy Schools London Award, an Activemark, and an ICT quality mark. We have been recognized by the local authority for our ICT provision with a good practice award, and have developed several links with software developers such as the Kuato Studios with whom some of our children worked very closely to develop coding games such as Code Warriors.
We are a partner school with the Unicorn Theatre. Children attend performances there and staff has received professional development opportunities. We also have links with The Globe Theatre and Southwark Playhouse.
We are proud of our inclusive school. The provision consists of two classrooms, a playground, soft play, and a sensory room. Each child within the resource base has their timetable, integrating for some sessions with children in the main school.
The children at Snowsfields benefit from a wide range of enrichment activities as part of our extended curriculum exposing them to new experiences and helping them discover hidden talents. Our after-school provision is well attended and includes puppetry, jewelry making, guitar lessons, coding, basketball, athletics, and football.

At Snowsfields we follow a Creative Curriculum based on children’s interests and developing skills. Following the introduction of the new National Curriculum in September 2014, we have reviewed and adapted our curriculum framework. Subjects are taught through broad and exciting topics. Children can start in our Nursery at the age of 3 years old. The Nursery and Reception classes work together to provide a stimulating and exciting curriculum that encourages our children to develop across all areas of learning.
We have designed our curriculum as a response to the new National Curriculum that became statutory in September 2014. Our curriculum has been designed to raise standards and improve outcomes for the children.
We value the diversity of individuals within our schools. All children have equal access to the curriculum and are treated fairly regardless of race, religion, or ability. Our Curriculum is designed to reflect the diversity of the schools and our society.
We teach the children through topics that are integrated so that the learning is meaningful to them. We ensure there is progression so that the children develop valuable skills and acquire knowledge, through a broad and balanced curriculum. Topics build on and develop children’s interests so that they are engaged and inspired. We shape our curriculum to reflect the ethos, aims, and values of our schools.
Wherever possible, the topic is used to link core and foundation subjects together such as literacy, history, geography, art, and design. Spiritual, Moral, Cultural, and Social development opportunities are woven through our curriculum, alongside British Values, to support children’s personal development and prepare them for life in modern Britain. We also build in curriculum enrichment weeks and special days where we focus on aspects of learning or subject areas, for example, Arts Week, Enterprise Week, or Health Week. We also offer a wide range of enrichment activities, throughout the day, such as trips, and after school to extend children’s knowledge and understanding.
We offer a wide range of additional opportunities to enrich the learning at school. These are enhanced by the partnerships that the school has with local organizations and businesses.
All classes go on several trips each year which are linked to the topic they are studying in class. We are so lucky to be situated in the heart of London and ensure that we make the most of this, bringing learning to life and making lessons more interactive.
We take part in several charity events such as Children in Need, Comic Relief, and Race for Life where the children raise money to help those less fortunate than themselves. This year the children sold cakes at one of our partnerships to raise even more money for charity. At the end of Year 6, all children get the opportunity to go on a three-day school journey to the PGL Centre in West Sussex. They take part in Areo ball, BMX cycling, abseiling, archery, zip wire, and swimming.
