Our vision for Severne School is that we want our children to have roots – the academic foundation, self-confidence, and positive attitude on which success in school depends. We want our children to have wings – the thinking skills, creativity, flexibility, enthusiasm, and broad view to soar beyond the commonplace.
At Severne Primary School, British values are taught through our broad, balanced, and enriched curriculum. Frequent opportunities to apply these values ensure that children practice key learning behaviors that support the school’s vision to create valued members of our community. We are a strong team at Severne Primary School and the children are very proud of the staff team who work in partnership with parents/carers, governors, and the community to provide a challenging education of a high standard within a caring environment.
We pride ourselves on knowing our children well and being able to provide for their individual, academic and emotional needs. We have an open-door policy for parents. Telephone calls and visits are always warmly received.

Primary children learn largely through experiences. We have designed a broad and rich curriculum that values the knowledge-getting process as much as the knowledge itself. Running across our whole curriculum are the skills and qualities that enable children to become successful learners and be tomorrow’s lifelong learners.
Within school, pupils are actively encouraged to make choices, knowing that they are in a safe and supportive environment. As a school, we educate and provide boundaries for young pupils to make choices safely, through of provision of a safe environment and empowering education. Pupils are encouraged to know, understand and exercise their rights and personal freedoms and advise how to exercise these safely, for example through our E-Safety and PSHE lessons. Whether it be through choice of challenge, of how they record, or participation in our numerous extra-curricular clubs and opportunities, pupils are given the freedom to make choices. We have a strong anti-bullying culture where pupils are encouraged to take responsibility for their behavior. Pupil self-esteem and self-confidence are paramount.
Part of our school ethos and behavior policy has revolved around Core Values such as ‘Be Respectful’, and pupils have been part of discussions and assemblies related to what this means and how it is shown, this is reiterated through our classroom and learning rules, as well as our behavior policy.
