Penybont Primary School is a community primary school set in the town of Bridgend. The school has over 360 pupils on roll and caters to children from the ages of 3 to 11. It is a non-selective, co-educational, day school. It is a lively and exciting school for pupils and their families. We believe in involving parents in the education of their children and always seek to develop strong, positive relationships with you. We need your support, interest, and co-operation to make sure that your child’s years with us are happy and fulfilling. The school is very busy with ample opportunities for educational visits and experiences that enrich the curriculum. Also, there are many extracurricular clubs for the children to join as they progress through the school. The positive ethos, excellent behavior, and committed staff culminate in excellent results at the end of KS2.
If you need it, there is also after-school childcare provision (subject to available places) on-site at very competitive rates. Children can be left with us for breakfast from 8.15 am (free) and can be collected as late as 5.15 pm. Should you need to discuss any aspect of your child’s education please contact the school office to arrange an appointment with the Headteacher or your child’s teacher. We will do all we can to ensure a successful education in the most important years of your child’s life.
Successful schools, like successful businesses, thrive because everyone has a common purpose. We don’t expect everyone to be robots doing things in the same way but, everyone has a common set of aims that directs their approach to school life. In schools, this should involve all the different stakeholders such as teachers, support staff, pupils, parents, and school governors. One of the tools we can use to encourage this idea of working with a joint purpose is a mission statement. This mission statement should, ideally, be simple, yet meaningful. It should be known by everyone and understood by everyone.
Ideally, different members of the organization should be involved in its construction and every member of the school community should sign up for it. As you can see this is very simple but does not tell us very much. However if CARES becomes an acronym with each letter standing for a different aspect of school life that we should all care about, then it is much more powerful.
