New Hall Primary and Children's Centre is located in Sutton Coldfield in the north area of Birmingham Local Authority. We are a two-form entry school in Years 1 to 6, with a one and a half form Reception class. We also have a part-time Nursery class (mornings only) within our Early Years Foundation Stage.

The school currently has about 360 pupils on roll from 3 to11 years. This is made up of two Reception (up to 5 years) classes, four Key Stage 1 (5 to 7 years) classes, and eight Key Stage 2 (7 to 11 years) classes. New Hall Children's Centre (0 to 5 years) is integral to the school community and the services we deliver from here help support all families.

We are fortunate to have a lovely environment for all to enjoy, with extensive playgrounds, fields, play equipment, and even a swimming pool on-site, which all pupils access. There is a separate dining room for school lunches and a hall. We have a school library, Cyber Café (IT) as well as iPads in every classroom, and roaming laptops that are accessible to all. To make the most of our outside space we have superb outdoor learning areas for EYFS, a Y1 quad, and a Y2 outdoor area. Key Stage 2 has an outdoor Maths Academy. We have a fantastic Forest School also.

Our purpose-built facilities provide ample opportunities for families to come and experience all that we have to offer. Our shared core values arose out of what we believe to be important about people, about society, and learning and knowledge. Core values have a range of different dimensions and are particularly related to citizenship issues, spiritual, moral, social, and cultural development of pupils, and learning to learn:

    • Learning as a lifelong process: critical curiosity, making connections, challenge, making meaning.
    • Spirituality: developing self-awareness, awareness of others awareness of the world around us, and for some, awareness of a God.
    • Morality: commitment to living and behaving in certain ways.
    • Social development: co-operation and emotional literacy.
    • Cultural development: empathy and valuing difference.
    • Personal development: self-esteem, self-efficacy, motivation for learning.

New Hall Primary and Children’s Centre is committed to meeting the requirements of the primary curriculum introduced in September 2014. New Hall, whilst delivering the statutory content of the National Curriculum, plans a thematic approach to learning and many of the themes change regularly to excite and stimulate the children. Teachers have received training in the key areas of curriculum change and we are equipped to provide outstanding curriculum provision. The curriculum will be taught with the consideration of the needs of all learners. Our curriculum will be exciting and will inspire children to nurture a passion for learning.

At New Hall, we emphasize that all children have an entitlement to:

    • Equality of opportunity.
    • A school curriculum that recognizes the individuality and special needs of each child.
    • A school curriculum that involves children in their learning.
    • Religious education and acts of collective worship as required by the Education Reform Act.
    • Personal, Social and Health Education.

The staff and governors wish to ensure that through our School Curriculum which reflects the ‘September 2014 National Curriculum’ children will develop and apply learned skills, knowledge, and understanding gained from their homes, our school, and the community. In response to the pupil's voice, New Hall Primary School and Children’s Centre will be providing exciting opportunities for all pupils to develop their creative and social skills across the curriculum.

New Hall is a school that is at the very heart of the community that it serves. The Children's Centre allows us to develop fantastic working relationships with all families from the very start of a child's life, and we have a long-standing reputation of supporting the 'whole child as a result. All of our children and families are unique – as a school, we recognize and celebrate this fact in as many ways as we can.
