Established in 1648, we are a one-form entry Church of England school and nursery situated in the inner city borough of Lambeth near a beautiful common, a bustling high street, and sites and buildings of historical interest such as Holy Trinity Church and Trinity Hospice.
Being a small school we build strong relationships. Each of us brings our skills, abilities, gifts, and talents to our school community and we aim to celebrate and encourage those things that make each child unique. Alongside high academic standards, we provide a range of creative, sporting, and musical opportunities allowing children the chance to develop their interests and abilities so that throughout their time at Macaulay each child has the opportunity to discover what they enjoy and what they do well.
Macaulay Church of England Primary School is a church school in the borough of Lambeth for children between the ages of 3 and 11. We are a one form entry school, which means that from Reception upwards there is one class per school year. Our nursery currently has two part-time classes one-morning class and one afternoon class.
As a church school, we believe it is very important to foster strong links between the school, church, and community. We have collective worship at Holy Trinity Church on Clapham Common every half term and we also finish each term with an end-of-term service at the church. Many of the local clergies visit our school during the term to give assemblies. We try to ensure that we have at least one visitor leading collective worship every week.
At Macaulay, the staff, parents, and governors have high expectations that all pupils will develop their full potential in every aspect of school life. Christian values are an integral part of the ethos and teaching at Macaulay. We believe in nurturing an understanding of our faith and respect for other faiths and cultures.
As a church school, Macaulay has a rich source of values. Each half term we focus on a Christian value and its characteristics and apply it in our lives - in the classroom, in the playground, and at home.
