Llanllwni School

Ysgol Llanllwni is a rural school catering for children between the ages of 3 and 11. The school is voluntarily controlled under the Church of Wales. Presently the school has two classes - the infant class and the junior class. Ysgol Llanllwni is a category A school. This means that Welsh is the main medium of all the educational, social and cultural aspects of the school. This policy aims to ensure that all pupils are bilingual by the time they are eleven years old.

Aims and Objectives:

• To offer a purposeful and balanced education to each pupil in conjunction with the needs of the National Curriculum.
• The development of the basic capabilities in every subject learned in school by remembering the pupil’s age, talent, and ability.
• To stimulate the emotional, moral, physical, and social development of the pupils so that they will be able to realize their maximum potential.
• To create an awareness and appreciation of the pupil's inheritance - language, culture, tradition, economy, and religion.
• To foster the aesthetic development of each pupil.
• To foster the need to understand and show respect towards the environment.
• To create an awareness of and desire for the spiritual dimensions of life by giving the children knowledge of religion particularly Christianity. To keep a Christian ethos at the school.
• The development of language in all its various forms so that it becomes a purposeful and meaningful means of communication. This will include listening, speaking, reading, writing, and literary appreciation.
• Ensure that every pupil, where possible, will be bilingual by eleven years old.
• To introduce the world of science and technology.
• To develop self-expression through music, mime, drama, art, and physical education.
• To create an awareness of the need for personal hygiene, good manners, and courtesy.
• To encourage safe practices in the school, home, and community
