At Lambeth Academy, we live by our school motto to ‘be exceptional’. We know that to achieve this, we need to find the best in every single student and staff member. For many of our children, this means equipping them with the knowledge, ambition, and skill to go to university one day.
We have a relentless focus on high standards, whether this is on the learning in classrooms, our students’ interactions around the Academy, or in raising their aspirations. We don’t apologize for this, even if it seems that we are strict we are, and we celebrate our high expectations of each other.
We believe exceptional learning is about finding out the simple things that work, doing them well, and doing them all the time. We don’t overcomplicate things. At Lambeth Academy, things are simple: teachers teach, and students learn. Anything that takes away from this core focus has to come second.
We are lucky to lie at the heart of a thriving community in Clapham, and we work well with our local and global partners to further drive the success of our students. Supporting the local community is important to us.

Exemplary learning at Lambeth Academy means there are ‘no excuses’ to achieving exceptional academic success. Positive relationships are used to remove barriers, motivate and challenge our students. The culture and ethos of the academy are based on the belief that traditional basic standards form the basis of ‘exemplary learning’: positive behaviors to learning, attitude, uniform, attendance, and punctuality – ‘the little things matter’. What lies at the heart of ‘exemplary learning’ is consistency with all stakeholders being fully committed and uncompromising – ‘exemplary learning’ is everyone’s business at Lambeth Academy.
An innovative and creative approach to both teaching and learning makes education at Lambeth Academy more relevant and exciting. Small class sizes, typically around 24 students perform, help each student achieve. Add to this an exciting program of enrichment and extension activities. We aim to bring out ‘The Best in Every'.
We provide a broad education, which prepares young people to progress in learning and to make a success of their lives. We focus sharply on the evidence of what makes it more likely that young people will progress and succeed, apply that to our practice and continue to learn and develop our schools. We make it a priority to provide teachers with excellent professional support and development so that every child receives an excellent experience.
Through being a group, we can offer more to both staff and young people than any single school could offer alone. The growing range of outstanding group-wide activities that we can provide will mean that more young people will have truly exceptional and inspiring experiences. Already, we believe that our group contains the most developed relationships and practical interaction between independent and state schools in the country, creating benefits for all the schools involved.
