Lady Bankes Infant & Nursery School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We have several policies and procedures in place that contribute to our safeguarding commitment, including our Child Protection Policy.
Sometimes we may need to share information and work in partnership with other agencies when there are concerns about a child's welfare. We will ensure that our concerns about our pupils are discussed with his/her parents/carers first unless we have reason to believe that such a move would be contrary to the child's welfare. We actively support the Government's Prevent Agenda to counter radicalism and extremism.
We are very proud of the way that our children demonstrate our school values through their behavior, and we are pleased with the overwhelmingly positive feedback that we get from visitors and outside providers.
The children in our school are taught that they have a right to have and express a view in a way that is part of a fair democratic system and considers the feelings of others. They are encouraged through the curriculum and behavior systems to make independent choices. They are also taught that they have a responsibility as an individual to uphold all of the school values when outside in the community.
Our children are involved in establishing the rules in our school. They have a deep understanding of the school’s positive behavior policy and the implications of their actions upon the well-being of themselves and others.
Whilst maintaining a broadly Christian basis for our Collective worship our core program of sharing celebrations and experiences linked to the backgrounds of our families (both religious and non-religious,) provides the opportunity to talk about and be proud of the children’s lives outside school. It also allows children to gain a greater understanding of and show respect for each other’s lifestyles.
