Harry Gosling School is situated in Whitechapel in the London borough of Tower Hamlets. 450 children attend the school, from the age of three to eleven. The school building is a wonderful mix of new and old. The original building dates from 1910, and our Centenary building opened in 2010. All children learn in spacious, well-resourced classrooms, and we have a large and exciting outdoor space that provides an exceptional play and learning environment.

A school is a place in which we can expand our minds and our horizons. At Harry Gosling, we aim to provide excellent learning and teaching opportunities in all areas of the curriculum. We plan activities to motivate, inspire and extend pupils. We cover all aspects of the National Curriculum and, to help children make connections in their learning, we weave the curriculum in broad ‘topic-based themes. We go on lots of trips and invite many visitors into school to build on the curriculum we offer in school.
At Harry Gosling this year we have a focus on growing our brains so we can be the best learners possible. We have adapted Guy Claxton's approach to learning behaviors to suit the needs of our pupils. Every third week we have a whole school assembly where we learn about a new learning behavior. Each learning behavior is linked to a familiar story so the pupils can see the learning behaviors in action and understand how to apply them. This enables our pupils to then go back into their lessons and have a go at practicing this particular learning behavior. Each phase then has a weekly assembly where two children from each class are awarded for demonstrating that learning behavior throughout the week.
