Dransfield is a bright, busy, welcoming school where there is always lots going on. We aim to provide the best possible education for our children and value academic, creative, sporting, social and personal development equally highly. We believe that children learn best when they experience enjoyable, relevant activities and where they are encouraged, supported, and appropriately challenged. We aim to enable our children to become enthusiastic, independent, life-long learners by helping them to develop positive attitudes to learning and the skills and knowledge they need to succeed.
At Deanesfield, we have created our vision taking into account the values expressed by children, staff, parents, and governors. The document below outlines our long-term vision and priorities and also our priorities for the year.
In line with statutory expectations, Deanesfield Primary School must teach our children about British values. The government defines British values as democracy the rule of law individual liberty mutual respect and tolerance of those of different faiths and beliefs.
Within school, pupils are actively encouraged to make choices, knowing that they are in a safe and supportive environment. As a school, we educate and provide boundaries for young pupils to make choices safely, through the provision of a safe environment and empowering education. Pupils are encouraged to know, understand and exercise their rights and personal freedoms and advised how to exercise these safely, for example through our E-Safety and PSHE lessons. Whether it be through choice of learning challenge, of how they record, or participation in our numerous extra-curricular clubs and opportunities, pupils are given the freedom to make choices.
As a Rights Respecting School, mutual respect is at the heart of our values. Children learn that their behaviors affect their rights and those of others. All members of the school community are expected to treat each other with respect.
Dransfield is situated in a culturally diverse area. Assemblies are regularly planned to include stories and celebrations from a variety of faiths and cultures. Our RE and PSHE teaching reinforce this. Members of different faiths or religions are encouraged to share their knowledge to enhance learning within classes and the school. Children visit places of worship that are important to different faiths. We have adopted the Hillingdon Standing Advisory Council Religious Education syllabus which enables children to learn about the major world faiths, all of which are represented by our pupils, and encourages respectful understanding and tolerance of the differences between these.
At Deanesfield Primary School we believe passionately in the importance of inclusion and equality for all children and adults, and strive to ensure that these values are at the heart of our Inclusion practices. We believe that an effective school is an inclusive school. We recognize the need to implement our ethos in the classroom and beyond to meet the needs of our children. We want them to be safe, achieve well, be healthy, enjoy life, and grow up to be successful adults who will make a positive contribution to the society in which they live.
