Cromer Road has served the local community for over 80 years and has a proud and successful history. We are an inclusive school and welcome all families equally, recognizing the contribution they make to our rich community. Our children are happy and confident learners because we provide a safe and secure environment in which they can thrive. We aspire to be the best that we can be in all areas of school life and are committed to continually developing our school to achieve this. This vision is shared by our Governing Body, staff, and parents. Our children regularly contribute to developments in the school using their pupil voice, through School Council.
Cromer Road is an inclusive school. The wellbeing of all our children is central to our pastoral care. We are proud of our school’s caring and nurturing atmosphere. The Butterfly Room is a space for talking, listening, playing, and communicating, as well as for parents to meet with our Learning Mentor. Our playground buddies and peer mentoring system ensure that children are supported at playtimes, and ‘bubble time’ encourages children to talk in confidence with a teacher whenever they need to. We aim to foster respect for all cultures and to provide guidance so that our children develop an understanding of themselves, each other, and the world around them. We do not tolerate any form of name-calling, bullying, or racist behavior.
We pride ourselves on being an inclusive community school where all children are given equal recognition for the contribution they make. We strive for high achievement in all we do academically, in sports, and the creative arts. Both success and effort are rewarded in equal measure. Through a rich curriculum and high-quality teaching, we nurture and develop children’s interests. We encourage pupils to improve continuously, from whatever their starting point and to develop enquiring minds. We are committed to working with our parents and our wider learning community and together aim to equip our children with the skills and understanding appropriate to an ever-changing world.
At Cromer Road, we instill in all our children a shared responsibility for looking after the environment, a passion for enjoying the outdoors, and the desire to be healthy at school and in life. Our school has extensive grounds with wide-open spaces where the children can run around, explore and learn. We have a thriving ‘outdoor classroom’ environmental area with a pond and our children plant trees, tomatoes, and potatoes, as well as flowers. We emphasize the importance of reusing and recycling our rubbish. We are fortunate to have our swimming pool where all children swim once a week.
We value opportunities for our children to grow in confidence and develop new talents outside the classroom. We provide a range of clubs including football, street dance, music, art, and drama. Our breakfast club and the after-school club are great places for our children to develop new skills, relax and make friends, as well as being an invaluable resource for working parents.
