Cayley is a three-form entry primary school, based in the heart of Stepney. We work together with our community to prepare our children for a successful future in the real world. We strive for excellence through exploration and an excitement for learning.
We are a happy and healthy school and believe that everyone should be valued for his or her individuality, culture, and heritage and that they are encouraged to achieve their full potential in a stimulating, challenging, and caring environment and we’re only able to achieve this through a strong partnership between home and school. We will help our children to achieve their potential as a member of our school community where all children are respected and valued.

Our Equality Objectives are:
- To promote spiritual, moral, social, and cultural development through all appropriate curricular and extra-curricular opportunities. We aim to meet this objective with particular reference to issues of equality and diversity.
- To reduce prejudice and increase understanding of equality through direct teaching across the curriculum.
- To move beyond deterministic notions of fixed ability and to model teaching and learning behaviors that avoid labeling.
- To narrow the gap between boys’ and girls’ attainment in writing in the primary phase (Y2 – Y6).
- To promote cultural development and understanding through a rich range of experience, both in and beyond the school.
- To eradicate prejudice related bullying about the protected characteristics listed in the Equality Act 2010.
- To tackle prejudice and promote understanding about people with disabilities.

At Cayley, British values of democracy, government, rule of law, individual liberty, mutual respect, and tolerance of different faiths and beliefs are embedded within our school values, ethos, curriculum, assemblies, and PHSE sessions. These ideas are particularly linked to our school values of citizenship, freedom, equality, and fairness.
Our overriding aim is for children to be good citizens. Part of this means they are taught to be resilient to radicalization and extremism. Pupils are taught to think critically, ask probing questions and make sound judgments for themselves about what is right and wrong. Our curriculum enables pupils to learn that there are many differing views and experiences in the world outside of their own. For example, our PHSE learning promotes the development of self-confidence, self-worth, and a sense of identity. Pupils are afforded opportunities to reflect on and discuss different lifestyles and facets of identity, to challenge inappropriate and harmful ideologies, and stand up for what they believe is right. The principles of good teaching in which pupils reflect and question are the foundations on which we base successful building of character.
There are times when some children need additional support during their school life. Through our special needs support within school, and with assistance from parents/carers, outside agencies, and local special schools. We endeavor to identify promptly a child’s particular needs so that individual programs can be provided when appropriate.
