Nursery and Reception sporting events will take place in the morning. The events will start at 10.00 am and will finish at approximately 11.15 am. Reception children will then be transported back to school in time for lunch. Nursery children may go home with their parents/carers from the leisure center or can be collected from nursery at the normal time. All parents/carers will be allowed to enter the sports hall at 9.45 am. Year 1 and 2 sporting events will take place in the afternoon. The events will start at 1.30 pm and will finish at approximately 2.30 pm.
All parents/carers will be allowed to enter the sports hall at 1.15 pm. Your child needs to come into school in sports clothes, please can you ensure that your child is wearing appropriate footwear to avoid any unnecessary injuries. The safety of your children is very important to us. There will be seats provided for parents, you must remain inside the allocated areas at all times. As the Leisure Centre is a council-run facility no photos or videos are permitted to be taken inside the building.
Children may come to school dressed in their Welsh Costume on Wednesday 14th February as a photographer will be visiting the school to take photographs of the children in their Welsh Costumes, which will be published in the Gwent Gazette at a later date. Our ‘Welsh week’ will take place after the half term the children will be able to wear their Welsh Costumes again on the Thursday 1st March.
Bryngwyn Road Campus’ Criw Cymraeg is made up of pupils from years 2 to 6 who are enthusiastic about promoting Welsh in our school. They help other pupils to understand and use Welsh throughout the day.
The pupils in Criw Cymraeg are responsible for:
- Contributing to school assemblies
- Encouraging and showing other pupils how to play Welsh games in the yard at break times
- Teaching the Welsh phrase of the week
- Promoting Welsh throughout their classes and school
Crew Cymraeg meets regularly at lunchtime and is currently working towards achieving a bronze award in a language charter ‘Cymraeg Campus’ which promotes and increases the use of Welsh. The award involves participation from all pupils and staff members.
