The school’s commitment to sustainable development and global citizenship has been recognized through the achievement of the third Platinum Eco Flag. The school has achieved the prestigious Investors in Family Award.
This year we have worked closely with schools within Central South Consortium, Developing Pedagogy. The last inspection of the school recognized that the school has an impressive sense of community, purpose, and direction, effectively promoting a positive ethos that enables the pupils to do well. The inspection report duly acknowledges the skill and dedication of all staff and the overall quality of care, guidance, and support provided for pupils is outstanding quality.

Bryncethin Primary School is situated in Bryncethin, to the north of Bridgend. It serves the communities of both Sarn and Bryncethin. The socio-economic background of the pupils varies and spans most social groups. Currently, there are 262 statutory age pupils and 40 nursery pupils on roll. Approximately 35% of the pupils are entitled to free meals, which is above the Wales national average of 21%. English is the predominant home language of all pupils.
The school has 10 classes and a Key Stage 2 Learning Resource Base for pupils with moderate learning difficulties. The annual intake covers the full ability range, although there is variability between cohorts. 31% of the pupils throughout the school are included on the Additional Learning Needs Register. In September 2001 Bryncethin Infants and Junior Schools merged to form Bryncethin Primary School. The character of the school was again changed in September 2012 to include nursery-age pupils following the closure of Sarn Nursery School. An Early Years Unit was built in September 2013 to provide nursery provision on the same site as the primary school.
