We are a thriving multi-cultural school situated in the London Borough of Sutton, near to Croydon. We have the greatest pride in our children and their achievements and strive to achieve our very best in everything we do. Our school sees each pupil as unique and individual. We are both committed and successful in ensuring that each child is encouraged, nurtured, and challenged to achieve their fullest academic, artistic, sporting, and social potential.
Academically, we are very strong. Children in our school very often attain exceptionally well when compared to all national averages and expectations. From varied ability on entry to our school, 97% of our children achieved at least the expected standard in Reception last year, with many more achieving the highest standard possible. This is a feat that has also been repeated by us many times over previous years.
We are regularly congratulated by the Department for Education in respect of the quality and performance of our phonics teaching and outcomes. Essentially, this means how we ensure that our children can read confidently and fluently from a very early age. The government runs a national check on phonics performance and our school consistently ensures that almost every child confidently passes this test. This is another area in which the school confidently surpasses all national averages.
Achievement throughout the rest of the school is also very strong over time and we regularly ensure that on leaving us, nearly every child attains or surpasses the government criteria for ‘secondary ready’. This, again, is significantly in advance of published national expectations and averages. Our children are rightly very proud of their performance here at Beddington Park Primary School. We achieve these successes via a real and genuine focus on your child as an individual. Our vibrant, topic-based curriculum has been designed and developed by our staff. Whilst adhering absolutely to the National Curriculum, it spans excellence in the sciences, arts, and sport, and provides many varied and exciting learning opportunities which are unique and bespoke to our local area, community, and children. This full and rich curriculum is well supported by many varied clubs, trips, and outside opportunities.
