Aylward Primary School provides education for children from nursery up to the age of 11 years. We are found close to Stanmore Tube Station, in the London Borough of Harrow. We welcome children from a wide range of backgrounds, abilities, and talents. Our main aim is to give all our children the opportunity to develop their full potential. Within a happy and secure atmosphere, our children are valued for themselves and experience a wide range of learning opportunities that will help them grow into independent and caring people. We are keen to challenge each pupil, to develop life long talents and interests.
We are very proud of our superb school grounds and our brand new school building that we moved into in April 2017. Please refer to the 'News and Events section of the website regarding details of our new school building. We feel we provide excellent educational opportunities for our children. This was confirmed by OFSTED in their during their latest inspection.

At Aylward Primary school we currently use Letters and Sounds to teach phonics. Teachers also use the resource Phonics Play to help assist their phonic lessons. In Key Stage One, phonics is taught daily and intervention phonic groups are set up in lower Key Stage Two to support those who need extra help in their reading and writing. From January 2017, we will be following the Read Write Inc program. Children at Aylward are exposed to reading daily. From Key Stage One upwards, children receive guided reading daily with weekly comprehension tasks to check children’s understanding. Teachers use good quality texts as part of their English lessons and in addition to this, every week children select a book from the school library.
