Welcome to King’s College Doha. As you explore our website, I hope you will get a sense of our happy, caring, and progressive school.
Founded in 2016, King's College Doha shares a unique thread with our UK sister school, King’s College, Taunton. A King's Doha education offers our students an experience far beyond the textbook delivering a traditional British Prep School ethos within a Middle Eastern context. We aim for all our students to be challenged, confident yet humble, whilst promoting key values such as ambition, leadership, and respect. As a community of learners, we work to nurture a culture where ideas are welcomed and talents unleashed.
Whether engaged in classroom learning or through performance, artistic, sporting, or charitable activities, our students are encouraged to push boundaries and strive to be the best they can be.
Education is one of the key investment pillars of Qatar’s 2030 vision. H.E. Sheikh Mansoor bin Jassim bin Thani Al Thani invited several outstanding UK schools to discuss a genuine partnership to contribute towards fulfilling the country’s vision.
After a rigorous selection process, King’s College, located in the city of Taunton in the West of England, was awarded the partnership, and King’s College, Doha was born.
The collaboration is real and meaningful. It enables teacher and pupil exchanges and a direct translation of the King’s curriculum, including significant investment into specialist teachers and world-class facilities.
The College provides, that caters to the needs of each child, blending the power of innovation and inquiry. King’s College, Doha offers an environment that encourages all children to be understanding and tolerant, whilst developing the self-confidence to express their ideas and opinions.
The Mission of King’s College Doha is to provide an outstanding British-based education within an international context. We are committed to instilling key attributes of academic focus, curiosity, care for others, respect, endeavor, teamwork, and enterprise to enable our students in Qatar to become responsible global citizens. Through a nurturing yet challenging environment, we develop confidence in our students to become lifelong learners and internationally-minded leaders of the future.
The Vision of King’s College Doha is to become a dynamic international learning community that nurtures and inspires every individual to achieve their full potential.
The school day is busy Registration begins at 7.25 am and closes at 7.30 am making way for learning to commence right away. In a school week, children will typically experience a sociable dining experience, at least 10 playtimes, Games, Music (whole class, choirs, and one-to-one), Arabic & Islamic Studies, PE, Qatari History, Art, Drama, alongside the focus on English, Maths, and Science. Assemblies take place throughout the week in different year groups and as a whole school at the end of the week where successes are celebrated and House Points scores are revealed.
Pre-School children finish at 12.30 pm, Reception at 2.00 pm and children from Year 1 upwards have an opportunity to stay in school for a Co-Curricular Club which runs from 2.50 to 3.30 pm. The wide range of Clubs on offer include Aerobics, Arabic, Arts & Crafts, Board Games, Computing, Football, Guitar, Philosophy. These are subject to change as they draw on the staff’s current expertise and interests. There is also an opportunity for children to remain at school to complete their Homework. Working alongside our staff and after school, we use an outside Extra-Curricular provider, SFQ to run additional activities.
Every child should leave the School by giving their teacher a firm handshake and a warm ‘Good afternoon’. We encourage our children to smile – a lot. We encourage our children to embrace a love of learning – and more. We have a library full of wonderful books, a music room filled with instruments, there are computers spread across the school, and both children’s work and artwork can be found proudly displayed along the white walls in all manner of shapes, colors, designs, and sizes.
By following the School’s Golden Rules, children can earn respect, feel valued and learn to work and play in a healthy, safe, and caring environment. Rewards are plentiful through our House Points system – these points are earned through both social and academic endeavors.
Children are given ample stimulation through the wealth of skills, experience, and knowledge that our dedicated staff provides. We are proud of our building and its facilities, but most importantly we are immensely proud of the children who have grown to know and love King’s College, and to make the school what it is in such a short space of time.
King’s College Doha has been designed by award-winning school architects and when complete will house some of the finest Early Years and Primary school facilities in Qatar.
The layout of King’s College is informed by a desire to deliver an innovative and contemporary curriculum. Each space is considered as being able to provide teaching and learning opportunities. The design of the internal and external spaces is also focused on harnessing and promoting interaction between all users and visitors to the College.
The Early Years Foundation Stage, home to our youngest Pre-School and Reception children, occupies one corner of the site and has its secure entrance and play areas.
A new double-height reception area provides a warm welcome to parents and visitors. Comfortable seating areas, with digital displays, create a further sense of hospitality and give an immediate glimpse of the quality of the spaces that lie beyond.
King’s College Doha has already seen an extensive refurbishment and redevelopment of an existing SEC school and there are further developments still to come. The images in this gallery show how we have transformed the school, both internally and externally, into a bright, contemporary, and inspirational teaching and learning environment.
