The BC Muslim School is an Independent School enrolling students from Kindergarten to Grade 7. The purpose of B.C. Muslim School is to provide a superior standard of education to foster academic achievements and to cultivate an Islamic spirit in each student. Our School motto is “Perseverance, Excellence, Commitment, and Knowledge. As we begin another successful school year, We would like to take this opportunity to welcome all our students back, with a special welcome to students who are new to our school. Communication and interaction between students, teachers, and parents are vital to a successful year. This Parent and Student Handbook have been carefully prepared for the parent and student use. The Handbook is designed to help our families understand the expectations set by BCMS.
One of the school’s most important priorities is to develop the individual’s learning and intellectual skills through generating integration between the Islamic curriculum and the program of studies prescribed by the Ministry of Education. To foster students’ high achievement in all areas of knowledge and skills. We foster high expectations for all students. Thus, the teachers and administration are concentrating on learning, which will dramatically improve the students’ performance. Parents are strongly urged to nurture their children’s high achievements by providing them with support, care, and encouragement.
A school is a place where teaching and learning take place. Appropriate behavior is the key to setting the climate in which teaching and learning occur. Knowledge can be of no benefit or even destructive if not directed by constructive principles and transmitted through productive actions. Thus, proper behavior is promoted continuously in order to maintain a safe and caring learning environment. In our disciplinary approach, we use reminders to make better choices, discussion, problem solving, counseling, and logical consequence concepts. We spend a great deal of time encouraging the children to work out social conflicts verbally (i.e., use their words), to listen to each other, to encourage empathy, and continuously strive for a spirit of harmony and mutual respect.
Thank you for your interest in the B.C. Muslim School. Our school facility includes all amenities that are necessary for quality, all-rounded education. We are currently upgrading our technological infrastructure. Part of it is upgrading the classrooms with interactive Smart Board and providing laptops to all the teachers. The primary classes are the first ones to implement the technology upgrade. Gradually all classes will come under the technology upgrade.
B.C. Muslim School is an Independent School registered pursuant with the B.C. Ministry of education. We follow the B.C. Ministry of Education Curriculum for Academic studies and the new curriculum for Islamic Studies Qur’an And Arabic. Our children pray Duh’r Salaat in the Mosque. They also pray Jumma’h on Friday. We aim to provide proper Islamic education to our children to become a good Muslim and a responsible citizen.
