Sinai College is an independent co-educational day school for students from Prep to Year Six located on beautiful grounds in Burbank, Brisbane. We invite you to explore our website and discover the many opportunities available to our Sinai College students.
Sinai College offers a rigorous, inquiry-based curriculum to engage learners of all abilities through authentic and stimulating educational experiences. Problem-solving and critical thinking skills are embedded through our differentiated curriculum to engage and empower learners. Literacy and numeracy skills are also explicitly taught.
Students are encouraged to embrace challenges and expand their knowledge of the key curriculum areas. As for 21st-century learners, all students can support their learning through access to different technological options. Our Early Years Program students experience a play-based pedagogy that encourages creativity and social, emotional resilience. For the older years, students learning experiences are focused on developing an in-depth knowledge and intellectual engagement.
At Sinai, every student has a personalized learning plan to provide individualized curriculum opportunities and guide our teachers' pedagogical practices. Our outstanding teacher/student ratios allow our educators to provide programs tailor-made to assist our students in reaching their full potential. Summative and formative assessment is provided to guide instruction and planning for each student in alignment with the Australian curriculum.
The inclusive kindergarten located in the beautiful grounds and using the extensive facilities of Sinai College will initially welcome 20 children from ages three to 5 years old for its foundation year. The spacious preschool classrooms and garden are being completely renovated over summer to provide a vibrant and nurturing early learning environment.
"We all understand that the world is changing rapidly and in ways that we probably cannot imagine today. So our role as educators is to prepare our children to be great problem solvers and handle all of life's future challenges with confidence and joy. A Montessori Kindergarten that transitions to an inquiry-based primary-age model provides a balance of structure, security, and flexibility for every student.
Sinai Montessori will offer an authentic Montessori curriculum approved by Education Queensland and incorporating: Practical Life (everyday living skills), Sensorial (learning through the senses), Language, and Mathematics. The fifth curriculum area is Culture. Students will also have specialist sports and music education and swimming lessons, and tennis on-site.
Sinai parent and Board chair, Ms. Monica Rabotnicoff, said the School Board had spent some time researching the best curriculum and teaching methods for the kindergarten. Sinai College is the only Jewish day school in Queensland. She said that since both Montessori and Judaism focus on respect, responsibility, self-sufficiency, and allowing each child to learn in their way, the values and ethos fit perfectly together.
The Jewish Cultural and Hebrew Language program is optional for non-Jewish students, and all cultures and traditions will be embraced and honored as part of Sinai Montessori. All children will be prepared to transition to prep confidently.
