Job Description

The Departures team is responsible for ensuring seamless transitions for Amazonians. We lend our support to Amazonians through the proactive identification of performance and attendance issues to set transparent and consistent expectations, provide Amazonians the opportunity to appeal these decisions, and ultimately guide Amazonians through their transitions by building transparent experiences supported by guided workflows that enable accurate and timely process execution.

As an engineering leader, you will hire, groom and develop talented engineers to deliver high visible, ambiguous and impactful initiatives to improve the Amazonian associate and employee experience. You excel working in fast paced environment and partner with product/program/operations to define the product experience and roadmap. You a both strategic and hands on leader, who roll up their sleeve to dive deep. You set high standards of engineering and operational excellence.


Key job responsibilities
You are responsible for creating an exciting technical roadmap by working with your engineers.

Design and develop highly scalable services for Global needs and create friction free plug and play solutions to customize for local needs.
You define and drive the engineering excellence practices for the team to build the best in class solutions.
You will be building automated solutions that will eliminate manual and error prone processes and improve the overall experience.
You will be defining and working towards the long term technical architecture while building innovative solutions to deliver the value to business.

- Hire, groom and grow a team of SDEs to deliver an exciting technical roadmap.
- Focus on long term while continue to deliver iteratively.
- Lead by example and foster technical innovation within the team through design reviews, process improvements, identifying technical bottlenecks and encouraging measured risk taking when providing solutions.
- Strategically develop software and metrics to enable strong data driven approaches for key business decisions
-Manage Project execution and delivery.

We are open to hiring candidates to work out of one of the following locations:

Seattle, WA, USA

Basic Qualifications:

- 3+ years of engineering team management experience
- 7+ years of engineering experience
- 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience
- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
- Experience partnering with product or program management teams

Preferred Qualifications:

- Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
- Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $148,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $287,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
