This role will be a critical position, partnering with the Director, Marketing Strategy as we prepare to create magic at sea in Southeast Asia.  You will be a crucial part of establishing the market strategy for the successful introduction and sustainment of Disney Cruise Line’s newest ship Disney Adventure to sail from Singapore beginning in 2025.  

Marketing strategy will play a prominent role in the expansion, leading strategic marketing and integrating with sales and communication teams to pave the way for a successful entry into these exciting markets. This venture provides the opportunity to partner closely with Disney Cruise Line business leaders world-wide to bring this experience to life in manner that is custom-tailored to Southeast Asia.

This role will be responsible to lead the marketing strategy for all markets, leading market specific strategy managers to drive the big picture for commercial success.  The leader will work hand in hand with the Director of Marketing and VP & Regional General Manager to ensure a clearly defined annual go to market strategy.  The role integrates the communications discipline partners to drive effective communication strategy that motivates the consumer through the purchase funnel of awareness, product understanding and conversion.

You should be an energetic, proactive, self-starter with experience working within a large-scale travel industry business. Candidates must work well in teams and possess the ability to work in a collaborative environment. 

Responsibilities:

Performing the role with excellence includes having exemplary creative skills, strong craft to drive omni-channel engagement, ability to articulate a creative vision, ability to drive forward momentum ensuring best in class creative delivered on time and in budget, strong cultural understanding, on the pulse of pop culture, keen understanding of media and social platforms and consumer engagement, thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment to navigate a complex launch on an accelerated timeline.

In this role, you will:

Lead complex target audience work, determining the opportunity and demand potential across multiple Southeast Asia countries and key consumer segments that inform communication strategy and commercial plans. Directly lead a team of Marketing professionals to develop foundational work that will generate and convert demand including: 

  • Partner with consumer insights teams to interpret demand data into geographic prioritization. Identifying target consumer groups to unlock business demand. 
  • Have a clear understanding of market seasonality, along with consumer travel behaviour and booking periods to clearly understand where to “push / pull” per market
  • Partner with VP & Regional GM, Director of Marketing and US based Sr Marketing manager to establish brand positioning, creative direction and go to market strategy in all regions grounded in strong consumer and cultural insights
  • Partner with Sr Manager Creative to work hand in hand with Creative Agency of record to develop creative assets that stimulate and motivate consumers identifying market nuances
  • Drive a team of strategies to develop strategic marketing plans for each country both local Singapore and key markets. That builds broad awareness and understanding of the product, drives excitement and stimulates demand from pre-launch through set sail and beyond
  • Work hand in hand with pricing and revenue management to ensure optimal yield
  • Protect bookings by preparing consumers for their sailings with pre-arrival communication that ensure a smooth arrival and excellent guest experience
  • Partner with DCL business leaders to identify and launch initial commercial opportunities beyond ticket revenue that are highly compelling and stimulate greater share of wallet 
  • Establish key KPI metrics across marketing performance and ensure ongoing measurement
  • Demonstrates maturity and ability to manage numerous stakeholders as well as efficiently work across time zones

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a leadership capacity directly leading marketing strategy and communications
  • Previous work experience in brand management, marketing strategy, travel industry, consumer package goods, distribution channel and sales strategy 
  • Strong experience leading teams and keen understanding of the region
  • Significant experience in managing complex projects in a fast-paced environment reliant upon successful collaboration and integration of key stakeholders
  • Exceptional knowledge of all facets of marketing across paid, earned, and owned
  • Proven critical thinking skills, foundational to strategic planning
  • Experience in project management and driving ideas into action
  • Skilled at building effective partner relationships and influencing peers, partners and leaders
  • Experience in integrating with sales distribution partners to ensure an integrate Marketing & Sales approach
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, plus superior professionalism 
  • Advanced presentation skills and proven track record of influencing executive audiences
  • Skilled at understanding performance metrics to assess & optimize programs
  • Travel Industry experience highly desired
  • Ability to travel internationally

Required Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent

Preferred Education:

  • MBA or strong business experience and background
