Help Amazon transform pixels into people! We are looking for a talented software development engineer to help us build and deploy cutting-edge deep learning technologies to produce visual content that improves our customers’ shopping experience

As an SDE on the Avedon team, you will work in a team with other engineers, scientists, and UX designers on the future of digital imaging by building synthetic image creation tools and workflows. The team also owns the systems and pipelines that enable data acquisition, visualization, annotation, training, evaluation, and active learning. The team uses an entirely Native AWS tech stack, existing at the cutting edge of what Amazon and the larger tech community provides and is excited about. We leverage Docker, AWS SageMaker, AWS Lambda, GraphQL with AppSync, extensive infrastructure-as-code modeling with AWS CDK, and React with Gatsby to enable our small team of engineers to deliver outsize impact and delight customers. This role is located in NYC, but we are open to hiring in Sunnyvale CA as well.

In a Software Development Engineer role, you will:
- Work closely with top-of-their-field machine learning scientists to accelerate the pace of innovation at Amazon and deploy breakthrough new technologies to customers;
- Grow your product experience, with your engineering expertise playing a key role in planning product strategies;
- Enter at the ground floor, with plenty of opportunity to have your voice heard in defining the engineering culture of the Avedon team;

- Design and build scalable data pipelines to process millions of images;

- Write high quality code that is modular, functional, testable and extendable.

Basic Qualifications:

- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language

Preferred Qualifications:

- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $115,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
