About the Role & Internship

WPVI-TV is an ABC-owned television station (OTVS) located in an innovative facility in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania! The Internship Program with the 6abc Community Engagement Department is crafted to provide one student with a general understanding of the many facets of Community Engagement within the fast-paced media industry!

As an intern on our team, you will work in a professional environment and will gain hands-on experience. As the Community Engagement intern, you will be exposed to station-corporate initiatives and events originated by 6abc. You will also be provided with a view of all aspects of television long-form production and operations of the Community Engagement department. You will have the opportunity to observe and participate in the daily work and operations of a major market television station.

What You Will Do

In this role, some of your projects with the WPVI-TV (6abc) Community Engagement team may include:

• Attend community engagement meetings (virtual & in-person)

• You will assist with the production of the station’s campaigns & initiatives

• Assist with studio and taped long-form productions

• Work on Social media engagement and write PSA & digital copy

• Interaction via Zoom calls, email, and phone with the 6abc community and corporate partners,

• Connecting with community-based non-profit organizations, and the great communities that interact with and are supported by 6abc.

Required Qualifications & Skills

• Television writing and video editing skills (Final Cut Pro or Adobe Premier Pro)

• Are equipped with a proven understanding of long-form TV & video production

• Experience with MS Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

• Social media proficiency.

• A hard-working professional who is an organized multitasker who strives to competently balance different tasks.

• Outstanding phone etiquette and strong written and verbal communication skills.

• A courteous candidate who is responsible with outstanding attention to detail, professional demeanor, and strong work ethic.

• Flexible and adaptable in ever-evolving environments

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in community engagement, corporate citizenship & social responsibility, event planning, urban development, or social media/branding a plus.

• Major or previous coursework in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Advertising, Business Administration, or related major

• Proficient in Zoom meeting coordination

• Prior TV or Video production internship

​Eligibility Requirements & Internship Information

• Must be enrolled in an accredited college/university taking at least one class in the semester/quarter (spring/fall) prior to participation in the internship program OR must have graduated from a college/university within 6 months at time of application posting OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Professional Internship

• Must be at least 18 years of age

• Must not have completed one year of continual employment on a Disney internship or program. 

• Must possess unrestricted work authorization

Additional Information

• Must be able to have a consistent, reliable work schedule throughout the internship

• The approximate dates of this internship are January 2024 through June 2024

• Must be fully available for the duration of the internship, 20 hours each week

• Must provide own housing for the duration internship program​ in the Philadelphia, PA area

• Must have reliable transportation to/from work​
