Job Description

Amazon Japan Consumer Innovation aims to strengthen engagement between Amazon Japan, our customers, and selling partners by focusing on elevating user experience for the tools and systems that connect us. We’re looking for a driven, customer-centric, and innovative UX Designer who is passionate about improving vendor and employee experiences and has a proven track record of optimizing e-commerce vendor and internal retail tool experiences. You will join our Retail Automation Tech and Science team and have end-to-end ownership of UX for products that build new selling partner and employee experiences to automate and scale retail functions.

In this role, you will shape UX standards for applications and reimagine how vendors conduct business now and in the future. We’re seeking a customer-obsessed, highly curious, entrepreneurial, and seasoned UX Designer to spearhead new initiatives and drive design strategy. You will work closely with business, engineering, and design partners to transform aggressive business goals into world-class experiences for internal retail account managers and vendors. The ideal candidate will be customer-focused, detail-oriented, eager to learn, and excited to collaborate with product and technical teams.

Key job responsibilities
• Develop user-centered designs through understanding business goals, customer feedback, usability studies, and user journeys.
• Lead design vision and philosophy for retail vendor account management, influencing global design and product teams.
• Rapidly iterate on user flows, prototypes, mockups and detailed UI/visual specs.
• Partner with product, engineering, business stakeholders and leadership.
• Utilize and adhere to branding guidelines and standardize designs across key products.
• Confidently defend design decisions in leadership reviews.
• Analyze post-launch metrics to optimize designs and UX.
• Resourcefully overcome obstacles and turn challenges into opportunities.

Basic Qualifications:

• 5+ years of design experience
• Skilled with design tools such as Figma, Flinto, ProtoPie, and InVision.
• Knowledge of design tools such as Balsamiq, Sketch, Photoshop, Illustrator, Fireworks, and InDesign.
• Portfolio demonstrating extensive knowledge and capabilities in UX and visual design across diverse projects.
• Bachelor's degree in design or equivalent work experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Demonstrated expertise in information architecture, interaction design, and user-centered design principles to create optimal user experiences.
• Innovative thinker dedicated to balancing user needs with technical feasibility.
• Skilled at identifying and mitigating project risks.
• Proven leadership across cross-functional product teams.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and analytical abilities, including presenting design concepts clearly and persuasively to diverse audiences including executives.
• Action-oriented, efficient worker adept at driving progress in fast-paced, ambiguous environments.
• Fluent in Japanese, both written and spoken, at a business level.
