The Amazon Books team is looking for inventive and technically skilled Senior Software Development Manager to help re-invent the future of books shopping and inspire millions of readers to find their next book. This organization owns the Books store for Print, Kindle, and Audible books world-wide. In this role, the leader will be at the forefront of the most dynamic and complex book store in the world.

We are looking for a Senior Software Development Manager who can lead technology teams in a highly distributed and scalable environment. The leader will collaborate with a diverse and talented team across the world. Those who seek a challenge, are eager to learn, and want to make an impact on global customers should apply.

Key job responsibilities
The leader in the role will think differently and creatively, balancing long-term architecture with short-term deliverables. They will own decision making for technology investments that have company-wide impact. The leader must possess a strong technical background, strong execution skills, strategic thinking, and data-driven decision making skills. They have a proven ability to manage change and deal with adversity and rapidly changing operating conditions while still delivering strong results.

Madrid, M, ESP

Basic Qualifications:

- 10+ years of engineering experience
- 7+ years of engineering team management experience
- 10+ years of planning, designing, developing and delivering consumer software experience
- Experience managing multiple concurrent programs, projects and development teams in an Agile environment
- Experience managing engineers
- Experience partnering with product and program management teams
- Experience in engineering

Preferred Qualifications:

- Experience designing and developing large scale, high-traffic applications
- Experience designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems
- Experience establishing metrics for measurement of engineering and operational excellence
