Job Description

AWS Security Operations Center (SOC) Physical Operations (PhysOps) Team is looking for an experienced security leader to join the team. This candidate needs to be competent working in a dynamic technical, and at times ambiguous environment. You will be responsible for handling security incidents in AWS.

A successful candidate will know how to prioritize, communicate clearly and compellingly, and understand how to drive a high level of focus and excellence with a strong team. AWS in general, and the SOC in particular, operates at very large scale and demands high standards, so a passion and discipline around security and delivery is critical. A high level of ownership and accountability is a must.

• Mentor a team of security industry specialists, maintaining clear performance standards while developing the next generation of Amazon Security leaders.
• Drive incident response management to collect, analyze, and report of security concerns pertaining to emerging issues
• Bring security leaders, partners, and stakeholders together to address findings/risks/solutions.
• Evaluate and improve security solutions
• Provide alternative solutions to complex security problems
• You lead large initiatives that span many services such as efficiency and scaling.
• You participate and drive operational excellence across teams and display the leadership core values in every activity.
• Utilize security mindset and judgement to make decisions on security risks across the organization.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in a security discipline, Computer Science, MIS, Engineering, (or) 7+ years’ equivalent incident response, data center operations, or security management experience.
• 7+ years’ experience managing complex global issues and coordinating across multiple business lines/regions.
• Ability to work any shift pattern within the 24/7/365 operation including days, nights, holidays and weekends.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Ability to present complex information and security findings in a clear and concise manner to a variety of audiences.
• Understanding of security infrastructure, incident management, and general IT knowledge.
• Experience with Microsoft applications and Operating Systems.
• Ability to independently collect, research, and analyze technical information from a variety of sources to solve problems, troubleshoot, and build solutions with security in mind.
• Experience engaging in project management, tracking timelines, and participating in planning and executing tasks within project milestones.
• Demonstrating the ability to produce/present reports for senior managers, internal departments, and external stakeholders regarding projects, risks, and initiatives.
• Knowledge of Internet security issues, cloud architectures, and threat landscape.
• Knowledge of virtualization technologies, especially with AWS services.
• Meets/exceeds Amazon’s leadership principles requirements for this role.
• Meets/exceeds Amazon’s functional depth and complexity for this role.
