This position is in the IBM The Weather Company business (TWC) or a shared services function supporting TWC. On August 22 2023, a definitive agreement was signed, under which Francisco Partners, a leading global investment firm that specializes in partnering with technology businesses, will acquire The Weather Company assets from IBM. It is currently expected that as of February 1, 2024, this position will be in a new company that is separate from IBM. Through increased investment and resources from Francisco Partners, The Weather Company will look to move beyond forecasting alone and bring new tools and experiences to users to help them understand how weather impacts all aspects of their lives, starting with health and well-being. For businesses, The Weather Company plans to offer more actionable insights so organizations can provide greater value to their customers. With its advertising platform, The Weather Company will continue to provide quality real-time experiences for the ad and subscription media industry, while complying with all consumer privacy laws and regulations. Your Role and Responsibilities
We are looking for a dynamic leader to Head our Emerging Revenue initiatives for our consumer platforms including The Weather Channel and Weather Underground which reaches close to 400M monthly active users. The Head of Emerging Revenue will set the go forward strategy and be accountable for the execution of the strategy to deliver new and alternative revenue streams. These revenues streams include but are not limited to affiliate marketing, e-commerce, sponsored content, editorially driven marketplaces, etc. The Emerging Revenue Leader will be responsible for driving revenue growth through new-product/content development, business development and partnerships.
 
The right candidate should have an understanding of the online advertising Industry, a passion for technology and the drive and ownership to work in a start-up environment. We’re looking for a leader who has a growth mindset who possess strong interpersonal skills with an emphasis on teamwork, ownership, initiative, and integrity. They must have high energy, enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, and be flexible to react to changing priorities. The ability to prioritize and deliver in a deadline-oriented environment is also critical.
 
The Head of Emerging Revenue will work in close partnership with the CPO, Head of Content, and the COO and be expected to contribute accurate and meaningful forecasts. The role will report to the CEO.
 
 
Responsibilities:
 
• Build the overall strategy for Emerging Revenue across digital platforms
• Develop and execute the plan to reach revenue goals and profitability
• Develop, manage and maintain client and 3rd partnerships related to emerging revenue initiatives
• Negotiate partnership deals and work closely with privacy and brand legal to execute contracts
• Determine product roadmap and technology stack needed to execute against vision and goals
• Work with the CPO and Head of Content to prioritize work and align on a positive consumer experience
• Create product marketing plans in cooperation with the marketing team to drive the usage of revenue generating features
• Reporting & Analysis: Regularly updating internal stakeholders on performance and revenue
• Analyze market trends and identify new opportunities for growth
• Must be a player/coach willing to roll up their sleeves to get the job done


Required Technical and Professional Expertise
• Extensive experience in driving emerging revenue growth for a large publisher, generating 7-figures in revenue
• Knowledge of the consumer digital publisher landscape including advertising, ecommerce, affiliate marketing
• Strong manager/coach and problem solver, with the ability to shift between strategic, project management and execution tasks
• Ability to manage effectively in a fast paced, matrixed environment
• Technical expertise in digital analytics tools (Google Analytics, Amplitude, Adobe Analytics, etc.)
• Top-notch organizational skills and attention to detail
• Goal-oriented, data-drive, and errs on the side of action
• Effective communicator who can lay out vision and strategy and represent the business across TWC, IBM and external
